I tried to get into Tomahawk, but couldn’t. Just never grew on me. That sucks, I know, but hey…

I am a huuuuuuge Mike Patton fan but I got a little tired of all his weird stuff lately. Fantômas, his solo CDs and the stuff he recorded with John Zorn were funny at the beginning but after some time I really felt like Mike should move on and make some “normal” music again (Mr. Bungle was considered his most “normal” project at the time, that says it all). Patton founded Tomahawk and I was disapointed. Nice cover and all but the songs were only average. “Mit Gas” their second LP, however, seems to be different. Rape this day really comes close to Mike’s FNM days. I think this album might be pretty impressive.

i read somewhere that it was actually duane denison (jesus lizard) who founded tomahawk.. so it is his ‘baby’. and that it is duane who writes most of the music.. toghether with mike of course.

Yeah, right it was/is Denison’s baby but as long as Mike is involved I call it “his” project. I never cared so much about Patton as a songwriter than as a performer. LOVAGE is another “band” in which Mike only acts as a performer, still I’d also call that one of his projects even when he isn’t the driving force behind it.
