Therapy? in the U.S.

#

Started by jeff47

I have been a huge Therapy? fan in the U.S. for years and years, I just wanted to pass along a thank you to the band for sticking with it, and creating new and interesting albums time and time again. I’ve noticed that Therapy? keeps having to switch lables here in the States, and just though i could offer a suggestion (i don’t know if the band even reads this), but there has been a huge underground following for Mike Patton’s Record label, Ipecac, and i feel that Therapy? is the kind of band that would find a welcome home among such high caliber artists. but it’s just a tought, cheers to all.

Here’s hoping that they’ve finally landed on one that will actually support them…

Hi jeff47, welcome to the boards! Yeah, Therapy? sadly have had to switch labels several times, but things are looking pretty good at Spitfire/Eagle records where they are now.

I find it very cool to read that you have been a fan of Therapy? for a long time, and still are, even though you’re located in the US where promotion has been very scarce for long periods of time!

Thanks for the welcome. Hopefully when i finish with school i am able to work on the music promotion idea i have had for a while, maybe help bring Therapy? some underground attention at least in the southeast of the states, i get tired of seeing greats bands continually overlooked here. And yeah Therapy? is right up there with bands like Faith No More, and Radiohead as one of my all time favorites. thanks for keeping it going.

Before the anouncement of T? being on spitfire records I had a thought that maybe, just maybe they would sign to a label like Epitaph. Why did I think this? Well, I did notice the signing of Turbonegro to Epitaph and I just thought that T? might just go down the same path. Well, obviously I was wrong and am glad that I didn’t go rambling about this before the news. But I keep wondering what it might have been like. What do you people think? I personally would have liked to see it just for the fact that Epitaph bands get a lot of exposure here in the US but on the downside I wouldn’t like them to for the simple fact that Epitaph bands are generally stupid except for a few that really know their shit.

I don’t think Therapy? like doing it the easy way :)

Epitaph is more of a punk label, which might have a bit of difficulty in promoting Therapy’s current style of music.

Maybe they should have signed to RoadRunner, like a certain band from your area of the US! :D

Oh yeah, welcome to the boards, man!

Since I have heard HighAnxiety I would have to say that this album would actually fit pretty well into the Epitaph range. Very punk in my opinion. Roadrunner is deffinetly a choice. I guess my problem with Spitfire is that the other bands on the label seem to be a bunch of old has beens. I mean really who listens to Overkill anymore. :D

Yeah, Spitfire doesn’t exactly have the “who’s who” of happenin’ rock/metal :D

Then again, fans of other bands on Spitfire are probably thinking the same about Therapy?

Not to be an asshole here, but what is YOUR definition of “happenin’ rock/metal”? At this moment that would mean bands like Linkin Park, Everclear, and that other band with that eddie vedder impersonator. Anyway all that crap.

When I compare Epitaph with Spitfire, I think they are in the right place. T? has a big metal edge, and fits perfectly on Spitfire (except for Sebitchian Bach that is). Besides, any realistic fan has to admit that the commercially succesfull days of troublegum, infernal love and church of noise are over…

I like them the way they are now better anyway. On festivals they can headline a marquee instead of the mainstage around 3pm in broad daylight, they headline small festivals, play theaters up to 2000 people…

see them. us salt water rednecks don’t
get much luck of that, yeehaw. though i
did offer to put them up in my apartment
if they swing by tampa bay / central
florida. and i live on the gulf, i figure
that’d be a draw.. i mean saltwater
