Which song should be dropped live?

#

Started by Alan

There are some songs that Therapy? will apparently never drop from the live set, presumably because they feel the crowd wants to hear them.

So, I’ve decided to post a poll to pick which song you could do without when at a Therapy? gig.

(Before changing the message boards’ software in August 2007 this discussion contained a poll, which may return in the future)

I think they should never drop one of these, those are classics !!!! I can’t imagine a TPY? concert without Nowhere, Die Laughing … I do believe they should play other songs live, i’d love to hear ‘Safe’ once eg, or ‘Unrequited’; but that doesn’t mean they have to let go of the classic TPY? songs!

I want all these songs played live, but not necessarily at every show.

A selection of 4 of them would be enough. But it’s nice to hear the “classics” every now and then.

Not too fussed about Stories, but would miss the others, especially Teethgrinder. My g/f would miss knives and some random grumbled about missing Potato Junkie when they last played Cambridge.

That’s my point: there won’t be “all the other tunes” because the songs I’ve listed above are in the set instead of them.

Don’t get me wrong - I like the set regulars, but playing them at every single gig? I think there should be more variation with the set, ‘cos it’s kinda easy to predict what they’re going to play.

I once copped off with the guy who played sax on Stories live so it should definitely be banned in case he comes back *groupie shame* ;)

Didn’t he just play on Infernal Love?

They used a different guy when playing live - he appeared on TOTP doing “Stories”, and played on the UK tour in June 1995 - I have a video of the Nottingham gig and he’s playing.

I can’t think of his name now, but I can get it…

Yes. :o - He was called Jimmy, not the same bloke that played on the album, he was just doing the live stuff.

Anyway, getting back to the thread ;) - I agree that they always play the same ‘classics’ but I for one have never really been bothered about Nowhere so that’s my vote.

<Sighs> There’s far too much sax and violins in rock these days.

Nice thread, It bothers me a bit they always play the same troublegum songs, I mean, I still like the sons, but they’ve got lots of better songs. But still I voted for Diane, I’m a bit fed up with this song for the moment.
As long as they don’t drop Teethgrinder it’s fine, I cannot live without that song. :D

it’s the best song to go absolutly nuts to live imho.

I never liked Graham’s drumming on Teethginder - if Neil can bring back the “disco” style drumming to it, then I’d definately like to hear Teethgrinder in the set. Otherwise, I think it should be dropped.

I voted for Diane, by the way.

There are so many other great songs to replace it, aren’t there?

Now that’s a good idea!

Anyone else hear that medley from Reading ‘94? It was Meat Abstract/Neck Freak/Teethgrinder - about 2 minutes of each… great stuff.

It was a real showcase of Fyfe’s talents - lets hope Neil is up for something similar!

:)
