Went to see them last night at Leadmill in Sheffield. Small venue, big band, bloody mayhem! Today I’m deaf and ache everywhere. They were bloody brilliant!

The new album is awesome.

Better than High Anxiety? Phew…it’s close.

and about the album: I think it’s the pretty good, maybe as good as High Anxiety, but definitely better than St.Anger.

Lots of energy.

Yep, new Anthrax album is way better than St Anger. I’ve not actually managed to make it to the end of St Anger before the boredom takes hold and I have to switch it off. It’s so bloomin DULL. Shame coz when I saw Metallica at Download it was obvious they could still cut it live (although how much of that was based on the crowd reaction I don’t know - they could have just stood their for 40 minutes and the crowd would have still gone wild). So why’d they make such a bloody pants record?

But Anthrax - well all I can say is that’s how metal is supposed to be. And their energy was amazing. They were throwing themselves about the stage like demented animals.

But I don’t think you can compare T? stuff with either of those bands - it’s a much different style.

I can’t believe that after the hype surrounding Metallica’s new album, it has come out like this.
It’s not the change of style I mind. I’m just a big a fan of old Metallica, The Black Album, Load/Reload.
St Anger comes across as “lashed up” to me. I dunno. Just how I feel. It’s not that the songs are long. It’s just that they’re repetitive, and don’t go anywhere “new”. 8 minutes of the same riffage and structure.

I thought St Anger was dull, I gave up on it after track 7. I loved Anthrax, but haven’t bought anything since Sound Of White Noise, you know how sometimes you just kind of lose track of a band?

One thing bothers me a lot:
I have seen St.Anger-video 2 times in today (and many other times in last month), but I have never seen If It Kills Me or Safe Home (Anthrax’s new video) on TV. I think it sucks pretty hard, because everybody knows that IIKM and Safe Home rocks 10 times more that St.Anger (and these songs are also more radio/tv friendly).
…so why people doesn’t have balls to show for example these videos on TV (or even play in radio)???

AARGH!!:)

I know that this is off-topic, so sorry!

I happen to have an extra copy of the single and as in Finland we have this thing called “reilu meininki”, I can sell that to you if you like… Let me know if you are interested.

AARGH!!:)

I would imagine it’s because most people who like that kind of music have more sense than to waste their precious time and money phoning to vote in pointless polls where bands get videos played based on the proportion of votes they get (I’m particularly talking about the tv stations like scuzz, kerrang and p-rock). If I was the kind of person to phone a vote in, I’d expect to see that video at least once but that just isn’t the way it works. They alter the playlist and a video’s relative frequency based on the band with the most votes that week. So those fans that want to hear something specific (like Anthrax - why the hell aren’t Anthrax being plugged?) would have to spend a fortune phoning loads of times in a week.

In short, music tv channels are a bloody con.

Title: Anthrax rumour (merged)

I’ve read some guff on the web today about John Bush leaving Anthrax and Joey coming back in the band.
And also…Dan Spitz and Frank Bello coming back. Sounds like a hoax to me.
You guys heard anything?

The album they released with the new line up covering the old faves was brilliant. Those old tunes rule, and with John singing them, they’re much more powerful.

One of the best concerts I’ve been to Anthrax opening for Maiden at GMU in 1991 during the first gulf war. Anthrax was great they were plugging Persistence of Time. I only have the first album with John Bush, I have to agree he’s a more powerful singer. But I don’t know.. there was just something about the stuff with Joey. It had a little more character, so it should be cool. I always like little Danny on guitar as well… I though Frank was still with the Band. I saw a video of there’s not to long ago where I swore he was singing a bit.

I think it’s just for a few shows. And maybe the Ozzfest slot if they take it.

I hope they don’t drop John Bush for Joey.
He’s by far the better singer.

And as far as I know Frank Bello just took some time out from the band to tour with HELMET. The door is still open for hime to go back to the band.

He has a full time position with FATES WARNING as well as the on and off thing with ARMORED SAINT.

He’s been a friend of the bamd for ages. They even recorded their last album, The Greater Of Two Evils in his own studio.

So! Who knows what’s going on.

Plus. The official website is down for maintenance, so there’s no way of knowing for a while.

They are playing in Dublin on the 4th of May, too.

I read from the paper that Anthrax is doing this reunion just because Sharon Osbourne said that she’ll take them to Ozzfest 2005 if they’ll play in the “classic” line-up otherwise no…

Dunno if that’s the truth but lets hope that she’ll trying to get Led Zeppelin to that also because then it would be a dream come true to see John Henry “Bonzo” Bonham to play live. How she is going to bring Bonzo to alive, don’t know but she is capable to ANYTHING… ;)
