Watch You Go & My Voodoo Doll

#

Started by Kill_Hill (Brendan)

Why? They do not fit into the mood of the album and they aren’t that good. I don’t like to bitch but it looks like Blink 182 have competion.

1) Blink are okay - don’t expect them to do a Kid A, but nevertheless, good clean fun.

2) Sounds more like the Offspring to me.

i just think blink are maniupulating an already overcrowded pop punk market aimed at kids. Its an exhausted genre- it doesnt vary enough to keep me interested.

Well, I don“t like Blink XYZ, but the mentioned songs more remind me of The Ramones. Most of my friends are also of the same opinion.
For me Watch You Go and Voodoo Doll are two of the best songs of the album…

But well, I like also like the rest of the album!

Watch You Go % My Voodoo Doll were 2 songs I instantly liked. Some of the others had to grow on me a bit.

I’ve played HA for friends that are not T? fans and they also made the remark that some songs sounded like The Ramones. They liked it, by the way …

Interesting. I would have said these two were the weakest songs. Still likeable but, as Kill-Hill said, perhaps not in keeping with the rest of the album.

funny, therapy? have often been described as a punk band, but i never really saw it like that till i heard watch you go and my voodoo doll. blink 128 does spring to mind but you have to admit those songs are fairly addictive.

the problem is those songs won’t appeal to little kids in baggy shorts cos lets face it, t? are getting too fat and old for the mallrat generation. their loss though.

Yeah, can’t see that many 12 year olds getting into T? Thought that both Troublegum and Semi-detached were pretty punky though.

i’ll put my hands up in the air and admit i know fuck all about punk, but when i compare semi detached and troublegum to older punk bands like say, the ramones, dead kennedys, clash, sex pistols ect, those albums sound nothing much like those bands to me. they are also a long ways away from the pop punk style of offspring and blink 128.

with voodoo and watch you go though, straight away i saw in my head baggy trousered gits pogoing ect, which i suppose is no harm really.

They kinda remind me of the Ramones and the Misfits but one of them does remind me of I want you bad by the offspring for some reason. They would have been ok b-sides. On the whole the album is preety dark but those 2 tracks belong to a band who own surf boards and watch Saved by the bell.

not sure i’d agree really, couldn’t see blink 128 singing that song, besides their fans would get too confused…

“how could you like, want someone but like, then hate them too? HELLO???”

So do you think Evil Elvis should have been on Troublegum?

i think its kinda cool that one of therapy?s best tracks never made onto an album, even though its got the kind of hook that most bands would kill to get their hands on and would surely have been a top 10 single back in ‘94.

since it only ever ended up as a b side, i think its a special song for real t? fans

I must be the only T? fan who doesn’t really like that song! I mean, “Evil Elvis” is okay - just nothing special.

I’ve always loved “Auto Surgery” though, I still think that should’ve been on Troublegum. :(
