Is Mr Andy Cairns the nicest man in ROCK?

#

Started by el diabolo himself

First night of the tour, no bass, kamikazi stage divers - and he still has a smile a joke and something good to say. Much respect fellers. Looking forward to tonight in Birmigham.

Quite possibly!

I’ve never known Andy to lose the plot onstage, even with stage-divers knocking over stuff.

Now, if only someone could let me know the setlist from last night… ;)

Michael with no bass again, duh, suppose he’s still buying them from Woolworth…:)

I’ve seen Andy lose it on stage, it was at Whitehaven, some twat threw a beer glass at his head and after they finished the song ( true pro’s! ) he threatened to come down and kick the shit out of him!

Well that’s fair enough, nobody would expect him to ignore that!
But by finishing the song it shows true pro composure!

Imagine the likes of Axl Rose (& a few others) in that situation? He’d storm off and not return, in the process punishing the many because of one idiot.

People like that should never be allowed to go to any gig ever again, I mean they could kill someone. Dickheads!! But in answer I think Andy is one of the coolest people in rock and totally the whole reason I hang around waiting for new albums and keep looking out for T? but on another note I think everyone in the band is realy cool and nice to get on with. Keep Rockin guys and anyone going to Birmingham tonight…see you there for a headbanging

Exactly - if Therapy? were arseholes/poseurs, I’d have stopped listening to them ages ago. The fact there’s no bullshit, helps you stick with them and try to help raise their profile. To me, they are friends who’ve been there for the last 10 or so years. And I’m proud to be a fan!

:D

although i totally agree with the sentiment that he is the nicest man in rock. He did have to deal with a heckler once in Newcastle, and was quite stern about it.Thats the only time i’ve seen him get angry. But i don’t blame him ‘cos someone was shouting abuse at him during the song ‘Six Mile Water’ which is about The Troubles, and so in effect this arsehole was making a mocckery of quite a poignant song. He got security to deal with this guy. SO i don’t blame him on that score - but apart from that all the times i’ve seen him he’s been a chirpy chappy, and, like the other guy said, thats why i stick with them - they have true integrity and honesty which makes them worth supporting.

I’ve never understood the point of paying to go into a gig with the sole intention of starting shit and spoiling it for other people. At one gig in Preston there was an idiot in the pit who seemed to think it was clever to start elbowing people, he was getting on me and my mate’s nerves ( there was 4 or 5 of us there )and a few others, so we made a pincer movement! On eof us got in front of him, two at each side whilst another went behind, when the next song started we all went in and gave him a taste of his own medicine!

He seemed to calm down after that.

The Whithaven crowd was odd, one half of the audience was going for it whilst the other half just sort of stood there watching..I don’t mean at the back or anything, I mean you could actually mark a line down the middle of the crowd! Weird!

One thing I remember was at a gig in Hamburg years ago.

One guy in the pit lost his glasses and Andy recognized that. So Andy made the rest of the band stop playing the song and told everybody to help that poor guy to find his glasses.

Afterwards there was applause for the guy who finally found his glasses, and T? were going on playing that song (don´t remember which song it was exactly).

I mean, if it was another band no one would care about a person in the audience who´s missing his or her glasses or whatever, but Andy did, just to ensure, that everbody is having a good time.

RESPECT for that!

She couldn’t really tell what I was trying to do so got very pissed off but luckily I managed to do a leap of faith back into my shoe and run away :D

Oh yeah sure! I’ll also grab a girl at the next gig and then blame it on my shoe! ;)

Was that the guy just stood there with a finger up? Andy said ‘if you’ve paid your money just to come here and do that, you’re a bigger loser than me’ and which point the whole crowd laughing at the fool.

Another time (think it was also in Newcastle), he threatened to do something unpleasant to someone’s parents and then fuck the person up the jacksie - I think this was another twit that had thrown stuff, so again he was justified in being pissed off.

A similar thing happened at a gig in newcastle (why is it always newcastle?). Some guy was in the pit smacking people. So when he went to the bog a bunch of guys followed him and beat seven shades out of him, I don’t know about calming down, more beaten down and knocked out!

The Newcastle point is a valid one! I think the excessive amount of beer consumed has something to do with it!

I’ve seen T? there a few times ( I used to have an ex who went to Sunderland Uni ) and there was a few rough types there at the gigs we saw.. I’m not sure if it’s just my memory playing tricks on me but I think I can recall that heckler mentioned in the above thread..was that at the Uni in 95 on the tour in between Troublegum and Infernal Love? I seem to recall some sort of official rock reprimand being administered!

Last time I saw them up there was at the Riverside in 98, there was a girl in front of me who kept turning around and saying something about me feeling her up! I didn’t have any idea what the hell she was going on about and after the 5th time I was getting pretty fed up with it, then she went off and I saw her pointing me out to about 4 other guys! I just dissapeared over to the otherside of the crowd!

Regarding that guy at Preston, he reappeared at the Whitehaven gig as well, so we were ready for him, I’m not sure if he recognised us all or not but he behaved himself on that night!
