Kerrang

I noticed that T? are in the recommended section for Kerrang’s lives this week ( I had a quick look through as Carrie was buying her lottery ticket ), and it was a pretty glowing write up..so why the bloody hell they’re not giving them more of a higher profile I do not know.

Oh wait..they don’t have a DJ, that’ll be why..

they used to give t? a fair whack of coverage when they sold lots of records. now they don’t sell lots of records so they don’t get much coverage.

kerrang may be a worthless pile of shite but at the end of the day it never claimed to be the champion of underated bands who don’t get the attention and respect they deserve.

It used to though. I’ve already made my feelings clear about Kerrang and how the people who used to work for them who were into music appear to have been replaced by big business drones.

you’re right there, i’ve noticed over the past 5 or so years that the magazine has become blander and more faceless than ever, but i just put it down to the fact that i had grwon out of the mag.

i think kerrang is happy to plug any “cool” looking band that they think might be the next big thing, but regarding a band like t?, who are percieved to have had their time at the top, kerrang is just not interested really.

surely the whole thing is that when T? were in Kerrap it was because they were the flavour of the month, next big thing but now it is Good Shit lotte or whatever they are called. Music is and always will be a vehicle for trends and as such this is reflected by the mags.

But in the age of the information super highway due we need magazines?

That is a very good question! I was reading an article the other week saying how all the mags were suffering from falling sales lately, Q and NME being the two high profile casualties! It’s weird though, a few years back you had Select, Vox and a few other mags which weren’t just rock orientated but devoted a fair bit of space to T?

Those mags dissapeared and with them further exposure to a more main stream audience, of course you didn’t have such wide spread net useage then. It’s odd, somebody else mentioned this ( I think it was Totallyrandomnick ) that when I tell most of my friends that I’ve just got the new Therapy? album they generally go ” oh, have they reformed?” Out of sight, out of mind I guess. It’s weird that HA reviews seem to be finding their way onto sites that normally wouldn’t have them on in the past, it would be nice to think that they finally got some more recognition again.

But then again, when I read through old articles and magazines when T? were first coming up, there’s very few of those bands who have survived through til today, popularity or longevity? I know which I’d pick!
