Punch the fucker who said it!

I have now heard, for what must by the millionth time in my laregly uneventful 27 years on this planet, the most annoying and unfunny comment ever when asked about who I went to see last week.

Every bastard time I tell somebody I’m going to, or have been to see Therapy? I can predict the conversation will run almost identical to this ( usually starts when somebody has overheard me talking about going to a gig with somebody else ):

“What are you doing?”

“Going to a concert”

“What sort of concert”

” A proper full on ROCK concert!”

“Oh, who are you going to see?”

“Therapy?”

“Well..you need it!”

Cue the sound of cackling ( as it’s usually old ladies who seem to do it most ) as if they’d just cracked the most rib shatteringly slice of hilarity ever delivered.

STOP IT..IT’S NOT FUCKING FUNNY!

Has anybody else had to put up with hearing this shite line ad nausieum?

Having seen them a lot I can fully understand you, though the Dutch conversation usually goes like this:

Hey Ronnie, what are you up to?

” I am gonna see Therapy?”

Woh, do these DianeDinosaurs still exist.

” Yes, and unlike real Dinosaurs they are still here from never have been gone”

Hm,well, no need to get offended mate

When I tell somebody I’m going to a T? gig they always answer: hmm never heard of. Haha… I think it says more about the people I know than it does about T?. A few years ago Graham put me +2 on the list for Doornroosje. Right across my house. Couldn’t find anybody! My friends have no taste in music…*

Another person:
“Therapy? ??”

“Yeah.”

“Oh, I thought, they split up after their first album.”

“Which Album?”

“I think it´s called Troublegum”

“1. Troublegum wasn´t their first album.
2. They didn´t split up, asshole!”

Maaaan, noone knows ´em.

But a positive aspect:
a friend of mine listened to “High Anxiety” and told me, that she would buy herself the album (her 1. T?-album)!!!

I think my worst is the amount of market traders (at a minimum one a week) who, when I’m wearing my Shameless t-shirt, *have* to say “Are you really then?” and leer. Yuck.

Older fans may also have the same problem as me, most people I know can’t belive that I still have the same favourite band that I did when I was 13. Too many “haven’t you grown out of them yet?” comments. Grr.

One of my mates told me about a guy he was talking to who said that Therapy? hadn’t done much since Troublegum and what they had wasn’t very good. I wished I’d been there to lecture the lad, because my mate didn’t know enough about Therapy? to correct him but he tried his best.

Haha I knew I was gonna get that! It’s the one Gez bought for me at the gig cause I couldn’t go, and I wear it purely for the facts that a)it’s shiny and b)it doesn’t mention the album anywhere, and the humble folks in my village aren’t likely to make any connection. :p

Sounds familiar, I´m listening to T? for 9 or 10 years now
(shortly before Troublegum came out), and many of my friends don´t listen to music any longer, which they liked when they were 17…
Well I do! At least in the T?-case
;)
