Crowdsurfing should be banned!

#

Started by Ronald

I am really sick and tired of it, it has been 3 days since I went to see Therapy? and I still can’t turn my head and all of this because I am a tall bastard who gets the crowdsurfers on his head first. I don’t mind stagedivers( one at a time and with normal shoes)because you can see them coming…it just pisses me off…can’t do any sports at the moment just because of an ignorant twat!

I wanted to make a pol, but didn’t really know how to do it, so feel free to make one!

(Before changing the message boards’ software in August 2007 this discussion contained a poll, which may return in the future)

As long as they go from front to back, I don’t have a problem with it. I *mostly* see them. ;)
Maybe everyone should take their shoes off. Just like you do at the Ikea ‘Ballenbak’. :P

don’t really have a problem with surfers, but if some guy twats me over the head with his doc martins then its only fair for him to get a punch in the balls!!

Uh…the 3rd one…NOPE, but, there is moshing and” moshing” , some people have this little button in their stupid heads when the lights go off and the band starts to play. The button is pressed and then they hera that little voice saying” and in the next corner, weighing 180 pounds…” and in the other corners, loads of Therapy? fans…dingdong , 1st round…and then they start boxing their way through the crowd, but when I see them bastards I always try to win on points in the end:D

He Ronald, totaly agree with you!!! But also from the front, I was lucky not being ‘packed’ so I couldn’t move, so I could jump away a few times, there where some really HEAVY stagedivers with armyboots on! I’m sure if I was the one the landed on, I would not be able to see the end of the concert!

Agree! The crowd surfing and stage diving during the Botanique gig in Brussels was excellent though! :)

i agree with you guys…it’s no fun anymore.
wether you always have to turn around to check, if not s.o. comes behind you, or you just get crashed from the front.
and the worst is, when you cannot move away

before t? we saw peter pan speedrock and there was a stupid young girl surfing through…
and there were two little boys (maybe 10 years)…they moved away, and she crashed completely on the ground…it was a wonder she didn’t break anything…and she couldn’t breath normal (in german it’s: hyperventilierte) anymore…so i think and hope, that teached her!

In that if you’re in the moshpit, you’re liable to be surfed on, and if you’re stood at the back, you’re usally safe from Dr Marten andhis pals.

Hear hear! Although a boot in the eye when T? toured Shameless at Newcastle led to a little bit of sympathy from a very nice young lady, who was probably about 12 years younger than me.

Therapy? chose to change venues here in Austria and they now play a club where you can’t stage dive. That pisses me off BIG TIME!

I don’t mind stagediving, as you can see them coming. My brother-in-law once got hit in the back of the head by a crowdsurfer with heavy boots during a T? festival show. He went out cold, but luckily recovered before I could drag him over to the side. This meant that he wasn’t badly hurt and we could enjoy the rest of the show. But we spent some time in the first aid tent with some ice on his head afterwards, and a headache. It does take away some of the fun when you have to watch your back all the times.

I think it is even a bigger “problem” in festivals, as there are a lot of crowdsurfers that don’t really care about which band is playing. You just keep on seeing (and carrying) the same people over and over again. I understand that you want to crowdsurf, but there is such a thing as overdoing it.

Perhaps they should split the audience in 2 parts (which is mostly already done on festivals). Then they could allow crowdsurfing on one side and you could choose whether you want to support the crowdsurfers or not.

Definitely my longest post yet ;)

It’s very simple:

Crowd surfing: NO
Stage diving: YES

The problem with the regular crowd surfing is that when they launch somebody behind you, you don’t see him coming (whereas with diving you do). Last year at a Dropkick Murphys gig, I had to go sit down for a couple of minutes because one of those fuckers landed on my head with his army boots.

In English it’s hyperventilate :D

At the (demised) T&C in Leeds, they wouldn’t let you in with steel-capped boots which was something, though regular boots are bad enough. I think if you must surf then at least wear trainers.

I used to surf at gigs but having been on the receiving end of some kicks to the head gave it up long ago. I’ve also had a t-shirt ripped while surfing cause of some fuck trying to pull my bra off. Really not appreciated. I think the laydeez have a right to surf without being mauled.

You go to a gig to see a band not to get assaulted.

I think Radiohead have a sign up at their gigs against people crowdsurfing.

( by the way sorry for lack of grammer and spelling I am slightly drunk )
