Most of this album could be from King for a Day! Incredible?
I think so!

Rape This Day is the best song IMO and the rest is only average. Nothing comes close to “King For A Day…”. I hope Mike Patton gets his hands on something really great again, soon.

Their 3 (major) albums sound all very different.
“Mr. Bunlge” is weird clown-funk-metal. Takes forever to get into but it pays. It’s a great and unique record from which System Of A Down stole more than they are aware of.

“Disco Volante” is typical Mike Patton noise. I wouldn’t recommend it unless you really are a die hard-Patton fan (like I am). Then again there are few pretty good songs on there (“Merry Go Bye”, “After School Special”, “Desert Search For The Techno Allah” & “Everyone I Went To High School With Is Dead”)

“California” is their last album (they split up some time ago). It’s almost straight forward, but of course still far from being commercial. I would label it as the last truly awesome material Patton has worked on (so far).

Fantomas ” The Directors cut ” was good but Delirium Cordia was utter shite…a ONE TRACK 75 minute cd with no music…just noises…???

Tomahawk is good though.

FNM were best.

I like most of what he’s done (with the exception of the more, shall we say, patience testing avant garde bits and bats with John Zorn/Merzbow etc) and also really like ‘Delerium Cordia’.Just because it doesn’t have conventional song structure doesn’t make it any less valid as a peice of music.

I think people have a habit of holding his stuff up against FNM and saying “oh, it’s just noise that doesn’t go anywhere”, but it just so happens he’s furrowing other styles away from the slickness of horrible corporate one riff rock/metal that doesn’t go anywhere, for which i’ll always be a fan of his, although admittedly he can be very self indulgent at times
