The Smashing Pumpkins/Zwan

#

Started by Bad Karma

Any fans of The Smashing Pumpkins here?,i use to be a big fan back in the day.I have just started listening to them again for the first time in ages.I don’t like Zwan (Billy Corgans new band) at all i think they are awful, their album Mary Star of The Sea was very dull and lifeless. All the songs sound the same and the lyrics are very dodgy. The Pumpkins were one of the most prolific and successful bands of the 90’s.My favourite album by them is Siamese Dream but i like all their albums. The Pumpkins gave away their last album for free Machina 2.

I was never a fan of them in all honesty, I think Billy Corgan needs to cheer up as well! There’s only so many times you can appear miserable!

As much as i like the music Corgan never did himself any favours in interviews, everyone says hes mad as fuck, and how can you be miserable after 25 million album sales?

His new band Zwan are quite ‘happy sounding’ and most of his new songs are love songs maybe thats why i don’t like them.

Well Zwan and the Pumpkins don’t really sound all that different,i just think his song writing and music is in decline.

No. I’ve been to reading and other festivals and can’t stand the atmosphere - to many dick heads who are fucked up on speed. At least in glastonbury if you bump into someone chances are they’ll apologuise to you before you do to them.
And it a tokers festival anyway - so suits me :D

Man I am pure metal/rock through and through, every time I’ve been I’ve had so much trouble choosing who to go and see cos there’ll be two bands I like on at the same time. I’ve seen QOTSA (with Dave Grohl), Foo Fighters , Ash, Idlewild, Nine inch Nails, Lost prophits, Cypus Hill (amazing live!!) etc. there are loads of bands that you’ll like playing and plus there is so much to do there. :)

I think Zwan might be playing Witness as well.

What do you think of the Pumpkins later albums after Mellon Collie?

Did you download Machina 2?

zwan is just a cheap copy of the pumpkins …
the orginal drummer from the pumpkins
(he is one of the best rock drummers i think … really itentional and hard and soft and everything a drummer needs to know … goes along with herb-tim alexander from primus and the drummer from soundgarden)

but look at the people playing in zwan … theres like in the pumpkins a girl on the bass and i chinese man on second guitar … looks the same to me … music is softer but i never liked the pumpkins, just their drummer :)

You have to download some more, honestly he is the funniest guy! Superhero:

If I could be a superhero I would be Awesome Man
Flying around the world fighting crime
According to my awesome plan
And if I saw criminals trying to lie
Hurting other people and making them cry
I’d haul them off to jail in my awesome van
Cause I would be Awesome Man

If I could be a superhero I would be Drug-Free Boy
Telling the world of the evils of drugs and all of the lives they’ve destroyed
Well I’d take all the junkies he’s getting so high
With their needles and bongs and their sticks made of Thai
As I burned them alive I would squeal with joy
Cause I would be Drug-Free Boy

If I could be a superhero I would be Immigration Dude
I’d send all the foreigners back to their homes
For eating up all of our food
And taking our welfare and best jobs to boot
Like landscaping dishwashing and picking our fruit
I’d pass a lot of laws to get rid of their brood
Cause I would be Immigration Dude

If I could be a superhero would you be Justice Guy
Making sure people get what they deserve
Especially women who lie
Like if a wife left her husband with two kids and no job
To run off to Hawaii with some doctor named Bob
You could skin them and drain them of blood so they die
Especially Bob
Then you would be Justice Guy

Or you could be more subtle, I didn’t mean to be vague
Give her the mad cow disease, let him die of the plague
As long as they suffer for their terrible lies
Especially Bob
Then you would be Justice Guy

Yes then you would be
A superhero like meeeee

Heh heh heh
