The ‘You fat Bastard’ chant.

#

Who in their right mind would chant that at some on they like or respect? I hate goin to a Therapy? gig listin to some shit shout “you fat bastard’ at Mr C. I know Andy takes it well but he shouldn’t have to listen to it. If you shout it at gigs you are shameless, pun intended.

I heard a guy screaming it to Andy last friday in Milan…I elbowed him right in his stomach! Hehehe!!
I think he got a bit angry ,cos he shouted out something to me…but he didn’t even try to touch me…that’s the luck of being a girl! :D
Next time he’ll think ten times before opening his fucking mouth!!

I remember at one t? gig. The lemon tree in aberdeen it was I believe circa 1999 possibly 2000 can’t remember.
Great gig apart from one twat who heckled t? when one of their amps failed. By saying something along the lines of “your broke” or something. To which Mr C got quite pissed off and at the end of the encore spat at th crowd. Unfortunatly mainly on me. :(

But it was an amazing gig couldn’t see for sweat.

Did you put that spit on Ebay?;)

I agree, I think it’s very sad to shout things like that, or throw beer at bands on stage…

The “You fat bastard” chant is usually done with affection though, or at least everytime I’ve heard people shouting it ( not me I hasten to add ) it’s never been nasty or anything, I remember once in Newcastle the band were actively encouraging it!

Was that where Andy said something along the lines of ‘I drink, I eat what I like, I’m happy’? They definitely didn’t seem offended then.

First band I knew of getting chanting at was Carter USM, who ewven had it as a T-shirt slogan.

Unless that band is called Kane or Di-rect, of course!

Carter eventually tired of that chant, and even tried to get it changed to “Low Fat Custard” via another t-shirt design.

Needless to say, it never caught on…

I’m not sure CE, possibly..it was during the Semi tour at the Riverside if I recall correct!

The most abiding memory of that night was King Prawn’s bassist however..what a nutter! He looked like the asian equivilent of Yoda!

I think the time I’m thinking of was the first gig after that, at the Uni.

Saw the Riverside gig though - wasn’t too impressed with King Prawn, but got to get photos of the band at the signing at HMV that afternoon.
