Title: Getting to Belfast from BIA

OK,

There is both an Airbus and loads of taxis available to get your ass into Belfast city centre. Here’s the info straight from the horses mouth (http://www.bial.co.uk and http://www.translink.co.uk/keytables%5Fairbus.asp)

Airport Guide - Getting to Belfast

By Bus:
The Airbus service operates between the airport and Belfast city centre every 30 minutes, Monday to Saturday, and at 30 or 60 minute intervals on a Sunday. This service operates between 5:45am and 11:20pm.

Fares:
Airport to - Single Return
Belfast £6.00 £9.00
Templepatrick £3.50 £6.10

By Taxi:
The International Airport Taxi Company, official taxi operator for the airport, have taxis available for hire outside the terminal building. Only taxis approved by BIA are permitted to use the taxi rank. A list of sample fares is displayed in the exit hall of the terminal builiding. International Airport Taxi Company tel: 028 9448 4353
****

Taxis are far more expensive (£20-£30), plus you’ll have to put up with annoying taxi drivers. Might be worth it if you are travelling in a group of 4 or 5. Faster than the bus (which seems to have a turbo charged hairdryer for an engine!)

Hope that helps - where are you staying. Further directions can be provided upon request ;)

In case you’re interested, Fu Manchu are playing at the Limelight on Sunday night (you’ll have just missed Sepultura on Wednesday!) If you’re flying back on Monday, you should definitely go!

Regards,
Dave

Hmmm, a quick Google and (from the BIA website): “The Airbus service operates between the airport and Belfast city centre every 30 minutes, Monday to Saturday, and at 30 or 60 minute intervals on a Sunday. This service operates between 0545 hrs and 2320hrs.”

There’s a map of Belfast City Centre here: http://www.tourism.belfastcity.gov.uk/pdfs/belfmap.pdf

The Airbus service should go to the Europa Bus Centre (marked as Great Victoria Street Station on that map.) To get to the gig, walk south along Great Victoria Street, through Shaftesbury Square, up Bradbury Place, onto University Road. The map URLed above includes a marking for both the International Youth Hostel and the Students Union (where the gig is at.) Plus if you open it in Acrobat, you can search for text to find where the streets are.

Hope that helps,

mrk

I don’t think it matters what door you go in, as long as you head down to the basement you’ll get there. Let’s face it, you’ll know exactly where it’s all happening - follow people, or check where the noise is coming from.

One of my flatmates is a bouncer for the mandella, the trouble for big bigs like this though is that they get external security in (who can be pricks). I remember at the gig in the Empire Andy told them to stand back from the barriers at the front and they shuffled on step to each side and promptly moved back again when the song started

It’s probably between 1.5 and 2 miles from the docks. You’ll be covering a fair bit of the distance if you walk to the train station, so just get a taxi.
