Strandfuif = fan BBQ

#

Started by Knives

I talked to the organisation of the Strandfuif today and there is definitely some terrain we can use to hold a T? fan barbecue.

So, the second T? fan barbecue will be held on friday August 1st 2003 in Glabbeek. I will make sure that we have a barbecue and meat (except for the vegetarian people, I’m not sure what is the vegetariant equivalent of a BBQ but they can post suggestions or cater for themselves). I will also make sure that there are some basic vegetables, so nobody will have to starve.

You bring your own drinks (or you can get festival-drinks, I guess) and everyone is invited to bring something (vegetables, dessert, …) for the barbecue. If you want to sleep there, don’t forget to bring a tent. :)

I don’t know yet at what time we can start using the terrain, but I think we will have the barbecue in the late afternoon (around 17.00?). The first band of the festival starts at 18.00, Therapy? is on at 23.45.

The price of all this is still unsure, but I think I can manage for 7,5 Euro for the barbecue and camping. You pay on the day itself, so if it costs me less you pay less.
Tickets for the festival are 20 Euro and I encourage everyone to get their own ticket. Information (in Dutch) about where to get tickets is here: http://www.bunker.be/strandfuif/info.html
Pre-sales start today and you can buy tickets online here: http://www.kbc.be/ticketshop/
I’m not sure if this can also be done from outside Belgium, but will try to find out tomorrow.

People that can’t get a ticket (because they don’t live in Belgium) can e-mail me and we will see what we can work out.

If you want to come, send me an e-mail at karl.verheyden@village.uunet.be with the names and countries of all people that are coming. I will reply to confirm that you are registered.

If you have any questions or remarks, just post them here.

What’s the nearest town to the festival that I can get a train to? I’ve looked on the Deutsche Bahn’s site, and they keep telling me that Glabbeek doesn’t exist, and that the next best thing they have is Glasgow(!)… Now, my geography was never THAT good, but…

And is there a bus connection or something to the festival? I can’t speak much Dutch, but I think I understood enough to work out they just give the numbers of autosnelwegen (motorways???) Would be great, but I ain’t got access to a motor over here…

So, could anyone help me out? Pleeaasse?! I’d be eternally grateful, I swear! :D

Unfortunately I don’t think I’d be able to make it in time for the BBQ, as I’ll have to work until the early afternoon, but I could try…

well psycho, i just can tell you one thing: you will have lots of fun with finding a trainstation or s.th. like a bus in belgium! :D
that was the first thing i’ve learned over there!

so good luck with that

maybe s.o. from germany with a car can take you with them…

Oh great! :( Sounds like a bit of begging is in order!

So… Is anyone going from Germany in a car, and has room for a small one?? :D

Wo ein Wille ist ist auch ein Weg… ;)

I’m pretty sure there is no trainstation, but you should be able to arrive in Diest. And from there you can probably take a bus Diest-Tienen who stops somewhere in Glabbeek…

Of course that is the way to the festival… good luck going back in the evening or the day after…

Public transport sucks big time in Belgium I’m afraid :(

OK, if I checked correctly: no trainstation in Glabbeek and it seems that the bus only stops at the city hall… :D

So start begging :D

Thanks very much for the help, looks like car hire may be the way to go… Unless there IS someone going from around the Cologne area who needs a Mitfahrer/accomplice… I can be useful to have around sometimes! :D

Another option is the trainstation in Tienen. I think more trains stop in Tienen than in Diest. But then you still need transport from Tienen to Glabbeek, some 9 kilometers. Diest is some 15 kilometers from Glabbeek.

For your information :
Glabbeek is indeed a one-horse-town, but I like it here.
The nearest trainstations are Tienen and Diest and from july 1st there will be busses from Tienen to Diest who’ll stop in Glabbeek (200 meters from the ‘festivalground’)
If someone needs more information : just ask
;)

well, ok now there will be a bus going to glabbeek, but what about going back from there to the train station?
isn’t it so, that from a certain time…let’s say maybe around 19.00 or 20.00 o’clock in the evening you can wait again veeeeeeeeeeeeeeery long for s.th coming around? meaning waiting till the next morning?

:D

I think you’ll have to wait untill Saturdaymorning to get a bus back to Tienen or Diest BUT … maybe you can stay and party on Saturday-evening
We have a mega party in the same tent and every year there are between 5.000 and 6.000 visitors
Then your problem will be how do I get to Tienen or Diest on Sunday.
I’ll check the local buss schedule and I’ll let you know
