I fully agree with that, saw them live in 2003 a few times and almost felt asleep.

I’ve seen them a few times and always found them to be pretty fucking good - I have heard that they can be really hit and miss live though - I guess I have just seen the good days!

Hm… I’d disagree with most of what was said so far. Adrenaline was good, Around the Fur was really good, and White Pony blew both of them out of the water. Didn’t care for Deftones self titled as I thought it wasn’t cohesive enough for me. It seemed to me that they took a step backwards in going back to the screaming fest typical of most metal bands. I’m more impress by singers that actually sing, I guess.

Though these are certainly opinions, and should be taken as such.

have you got it yet? amazon is screwing me around. think i’ll cancel and get the special edition from play.com instead.

and regarding other posts, as far as i’m concerned deftones have never realeased a bad album. each one different (just like therapy?), but that’s why i like them. only saw them once (in the limelight), and i was a nipper but thought they were amazing.

i cancelled my amazon one and ordered the special edition off play.com so i’m the same now. but still it was only going to arrive about a week earlier from amazon who kept changing the date every time i checked anyway. plus the special edition was cheaper than amazon’s regular one so it’s all good

and at nottingham rock city last night.

i love this band. although they have their faults (a love of cheeseburgers looking like one of them), they consistently try to push the boundaries with every release. nu-metal is not their thing. even adrenaline and around the fur were prett far from this.

anyway, they have become pretty static on stage (due in no small part to the cheeseburgers), but abe cunnungham makes up for this. he has to be AT LEAST as good as fyfe and neil…

Everything been made after White Pony is boring. Adrenaline is great, Around The Fur is brilliant, White Pony is a masterpiece record and then they just collapsed. The self-titled album is so fucking boring that it gets me snoring.

Remember, this is just my opinion.

yeah, deftones is their worst album, but it still rocks. and if you count all the white pony rereleases and stuff, that pissed me off a bit, but it was all down to the record company

I couldn’t do that and I fell asleep at the Venue (Big rock place that plays shit music, such as Metallica and Slipknot, they have a signed Therapy? poster but only play Screamager when they want to)

If you have to listen to that crap for more than an hour, where every song sounds the same, I tend to fall asleep yes :o

I’m sure we will disagree on this :D

yes we will, that is bollocks. i have always thought there are parallels between deftones and therapy? in that they have a huge variation within their own sound and that no two albums sound the same.

i also disagree that chino is shit. he is not as good a singer as he thinks he is, but he isn’t bad compared to a lot of singers out there, andy included

I last saw them around 2003 and couldn’t believe how fat Chino had gotten - but saw a very recent clip of them at Download and  he’s even gotten much bigger. Pure bloater!!

There’s lot of rumours that this could be the last album from them but if it is it’s a hell of away to go out.The other only track i’m not really fond of is Pink Cellphone but everything else is class!

Title: Portsmouth Guildhall 15/04/07

RAWK!!!

strange though that although it was a long set and they played kindof an even spread of songs from all albums, there was NOTHING from their self-titled album…

chino also didn’t bother singing some of the lyrics - maybe his throat was still a bit sore…

still, you’ve got to love abe’s drumming, especially on the adrenaline stuff (nosebleed - )

Yeah, the Vienna show rocked, too. I’m glad they played a smaller venue as the band was kinda boring in stadiums. I especially liked the Suicidal Tendencies Cover they sometimes do. Chino looks more and more like Mike Muir anyway.
