Here’s a message from T? I’ve just sent out on the mailing list:
Hello all,
Just wanted to clear up some of the issues surrounding the poll and why we didn’t play the 3 ‘top songs’. To be totally honest the band were surprised by the choices as they were songs that we had played quite a lot before and we’d hoped everyone would maybe choose some more obsure or unusual songs. That’s cool though ‘cos that’s what a vote is all about.
Then when we went to rehearse for the tour, it became pretty obvious that we wouldn’t have time to rehearse all the songs to a suitable standard. This is due to a combinaton of a very busy press schedule right up to the start of the rehearsals and the fact that we had only 2 days rehearsal scheduled. Add to this a new backline crew and lots of equipment repairs/upgrading, our rehearsal time was eaten into. We did add “Straight Life” to a later part of the tour and are working on “Teethgrinder” for the Irish shows.
I hope you can all understand that we wanted to put on the best show possible and we all feel the tour was one of the best we’ve done in years. Neil is doing a superb job and we have had nothing but positive and warm reactions everywhere we’ve been. For that we thank you all.
I have spoken to Rene and we now propose that we should do a similar poll to select a few songs for the Autumn/Winter tour. This time the band will select a short list of more ‘obsure’ songs and people can vote to choose their favourites.
On a lighter note..we’ve got a lot of ‘fly on the wall’ footage for the dvd already and are all excited about the upcoming Irish shows. Things are all set for the recording in Belfast and we have put a lot of effort into making it a special night. Should be fun.
Regards,
