Marilyn Manson on the pops…

Started by dano

Anybody else seen it? I’m not his biggest fan by any shot of the imagination, but does anybody else think that the chorus sounds exactly like Faith No More’s Be Aggresive?

That song is.

But have you heard the rest of the album.

Whilst I love the single, and to a point, like the album, I think it is very unfair, because truth be told, as everyoen here knows, the single is a marketing tool, and the single is as unrepresentative of the album as you can get.

Now, people with internet and whatnot, do their research and will buy or not buy based on what they hear, but those who just go out and buy the album based on the single — well, I think they’ve been had.

She’s lovely! And I’m far too old.

Yeah, but you can buy “Tight” at Harmony on Tottenham Court Road for 3.99 and it will give you more pleasure than an album.

I kinda assumed MM were doing the ‘homage’ thing rather than ripping of FNM. I liked the song, though would still say they were better in the pre-Kerrang days of 1994

Saw MM (from a long distance) at Reading (was it last year, the year before?). Didn’t get it. Songs sound the same, same white noise, odd beats, overuse of strobes. People were loving it, and fair play to them, but, well, I just _don’t_ _get_ _it_.

Apart from Sweet Dreams. What a reworking.

I dunno. The first time I heard MM was on the T? IL tour cause the guy I was helping had it stolen. Was totally classic though, ne’er looked back

i call them linkin park plus enya, with
a healthy dose of SHITE mixed in.

but hey, that’s just me!.. hopefully
you guys over seas aren’t plagued by
the song being played constantly. people
wonder why i never listen to the radio..

then again i tend to like “bad” music.
aka stuff that no one else likes.. cough
t? cough…

I’m not a big fan of this lot either, sounds exactly like Linkin Park with a girl singing. There’s obviously a lot of money been ploughed into their PR as well, as they were getting pushed an awful lot before they’d released anything over here.

Ah but come on, it’s just so darn catchy! Saw the video on The Hits yesterday and have had it in me head said then.

Speaking of The Hits - is there some sort of law about not showing Gay Bar? It said it was the 3rd most voted for song of the day but they didn’t fecking play it!

Sorry, my mum got me a Freeview box for me birthday so I’m new to all these music channels etc *fished in*

The ‘be aggressive’ thing btw - more a homage than a steal?

You said that about a homage last night…nah, I’m not having it!

The gay bar video is odd, on the DVD they’ve edited out the bit about war..but that’s all. Bit too close to recent events I guess.

I said way too much last night! Appear to have changed my signature too, bah.

When they did that pause on TOTP I wondered if they really would stop it. Not sure ‘I’ve got something to put in you’ is appropriate tweenager listening material.

I was surprised they allowed that! I guess that as enough people bought it to put it in at 5 they figured people knew what he was singing anyway.

Dick Valentine..what a great name!

Yeah I was there too, funniest and worst gig of my life. That day was just kiddy metaller day! Oh and it was the year before last.

The Eurythmics original of Sweet Dreams is so much better!!

That would be the bit where someone has said ‘do a rap - that’ll sell’?

@Hooch - you get free music channels with freeview? tell me more, I currently just have paupervision.

@Hooch & Dano - were you two up incredibly late, or did you both get up early again?

Have just watched a medical programme and done some net research - am convinced that I either have low testosterone levels or mild depression or both. Or possibly hypochondria.

Your homework for the weekend:
Self-deprecation - defence or denial?

Soft Cell’s version of Tainted Love was better than MMs as well.

Can’t speak for Hooch, but I went to bed late and got up early! ( See stupid thread and you’ll see what I mean! )

Oh, forgot to say about TV…

With Freeview you get The Hits, which is one where you can phone in requests (same as The Box, really) and you get The Music Factory. There’s nothing particularly rock that I’ve found so far (discounting nonestop Evenescence, Linkin Roach etc…) but if you have a desperate urge to satisfy your Justin Timberlake fixation then it’s great :D

Maybe it should be called a kite instead?

Or maybe it reffers to girls who don’t put out..like Pandoras box, it’s hard to get into.

And you can get those corner boxes that look like triangles.
