Setlist for TW Classic

#

Started by Knives

The question is: what would be the ideal setlist for TW Classic 2003?

This is a chance for T? to play in front of say 50.000 people that don’t even know they exist anymore. Some of them have never known they existed in the first place. What setlist would convince them to go out the next day and buy the entire back catalogue, or at least High Anxiety?

Here’s my guess, I’m assuming they can play 45 minutes, so I’ll aim for 15 songs and an encore of 2:

1. Diane - their greatest hit, so it will remind people of who they are, start with a slow song for once
2. Screamager - get them started
3. Hey Satan, You Rock - introduce them to High Anxiety, song introduced as Hey Belgium, You Rock in my dreams :)
4. My Voodoo Doll - a song that you can instantly like
5. Nowhere - keep the crowd interested
6. Gimme Back My Brain - got to have some Shameless in the set
7. Bad Mother - the “Belgian” single
8. Nobody Here But Us - a catchy refrain to get them hooked
9. Not in Any Name - again the connection with Belgium
10. Church Of Noise - a set regular, and one from Semi-Detached
11. Not That Kind Of Girl - great live version, I really love Martin’s intro, they should clap along by now
12. Die Laughing - start of the grand finale
13. If It Kills Me - the HA single
14. Knives - obvious
15. Potato Junkie - also obvious

Encore:
16. Stand In Line, immediately followed by
17. Teethgrinder (again, in my dreams :))

This gives 5 from High Anxiety, 1 from Shameless, 1 from Suicide Pact- You First, 1 from Semi-Detached, 2 from Infernal Love, 4 from Troublegum, 1 from Pleasure Death

You can probably do better than this …

sounds pretty good to me, but cramming those 17 songs into 45 mins would be hard - they’d really have to play the songs back to back and not have any time to even say: “we are therapy?”

i doubt they’d get an encore also.

As 95% (or even more) of the people who will be there don’t give a fuck about T? and actually don’t really like “heavy” music, I think there is only one option: SHOCK ALL THOSE OLD BASTARDS :D

And to do that, the setlist should look like this:

1. Stalk & Slash
2. Animal Bones
3. Neck Freak
4. Fantasy Bag
5. Femtex
6. Safe
7. Fat Camp
8. Joey
9. Punishment Kiss
10.Limbo
11. Meat Abstract
12. Potato Junkie
13. If It Kills Me
14. Teethgrinder
15. Rust

That will get those wheelchairs moving :D

yeah how would it look like seeing some grandfathers and mamas go totally nuts and do crowdsurfing on their chairs and jumping of the stage … *g*
singing along to “masturbation saved my life” or “hey satan you rock!” *g*

would be the picture of the century seeing that :)

I just thought of something … Gimme Gimme Gimme (A Man After Midnight) would probably go down well with the majority of the crowd. And it would be a big surprise to the regular fans.

So, they just have to find room for this one in the setlist.
