worst song on HA

#

Started by drummersean

personally i think that high anxiety was anausome albumn and has been the best stuff that the band have come it with os of late. but as with all good things there allways seems to be a negative point and to me this is the song “my voodoo doll” i dont think its all together a bad song but i dont think that it fits this albumn, also “watch you go” is a bit obscure i think but that to me is a better song.

what do all u think?

cheers
sean

we’ve discussed this before many times, but I think they both are very fine songs, maybe a bit different than the rest, but hell, does that matter so much, they are just 2 good songs .

I had the same feeling for the first week or so, but then it grew on me and now I think it’s quite good.

So perhaps, if you stay away from the stereo and the remote enough …

Well, standing in line usually IS boring, so the song get’s its point across very well :D

BTW, Stand in line is my favourite song on HA.

Stand In Line… it’s almost so not Therapy? and yet I can’t wait to hear it live… It is a _mighty_ song, if you _really_ listen to it.

i think rust is the song i´ll skip … its just … there is nothin on it like open string, 3 fret and 4th fret …

its like the same over and over again …

too long, too simple, too boring … not the kind of stuff i love T? for …
but also the ( i would call) “fun punk” songst like “vodoo doll” or “watch you go”

as i said earlier for me HA sounds like a B-ide compilation - collection of the troublegum area

It’s hard to say there is a worst song on the album, since I listen to the band for different reasons. People who like metal are obviously not going to enjoy the songs where they aren’t screaming every five seconds, and people who like punk are obviously not going to like the heavy in your face stuff.

Guess I think we should stop trying to pick it apart and just play the damn thing! It’s really a great album, and the only way we’re going to get to enjoy it is to accept each song as Therapy? .

Er… ok. Hm… maybe I should sleep before posting.

I really don’t understand why ‘My Voodoo Doll’ is criticised for sounding too poppy or whatever - I mean, just look at songs Therapy? have done before. ‘Loose’ is never criticised for sounding “too poppy” or “out of context”, and it was equally as commercial as ‘My Voodoo Doll’. And hello?? The only upbeat song on ‘Infernal Love’?! ;) Talk about out of context…

But yeh, I really love both ‘High Anxiety’ and ‘Infernal Love’, and I’m also new on the board (although I’ve been ‘lurking’ for quite a while - some interesting debates go on here!). My name’s Ross, and I’m from Belfast.

*ahem* *cough* *splutter* http://www.starresidue.co.uk/ *my band’s site* *cough* *go there now*

Sorry, that was a cheap plug..

What about 30 seconds? It ends pretty upbeat?

HSYR is fairly upbeat as well.

Meh, okay that’s a fair point. But my main argument was regarding the fact that ‘Infernal Love’ is considered largely to be a very downbeat album compared to ‘High Anxiety’, yet the presence of a pop-punk track (I hate that term :o ) on the latter caused more controversy than on ‘Infernal Love’ - Therapy?’s “goth album” so to speak.

Am I the only one who finds this a bit weird? :(

Regarding your band link, if you go to your profile and edit it, you can put a link in your signature so it shows up on every post :D

Yeah, some tracks are weaker than others as you’d expect, but overall there’s not a single really duff track there at all. Even Watch You Go seemed really cool when I played it last night.

That’s very true. Looking back ‘Shameless’ was a pretty patchy album. It had its moments but I’d say its the bands worst album. HA is much better.

sp-yf was such a great album because it was so different. The thing about t? is they never make the same album twice, keeps them interesting. As for classic albums that really is a matter of peoples different opinions. Im sure some people on here think ‘Shameless’ is a classic album, whereas i dont have a hell of a lot of time for it.

Damn right I feel the same way too!

The chorus of Stand In Line is so fucking brilliant.Who Knows also has killer riffts…it sounds like a bit monster Magnet-ish to me.

And let’s not forget about the sound. It’s just excellent, innit? :)
