So for me, they should shock the audience awake from the start. They could even wait with Moment of Clarity to open the encore.

Depends on the place of Diane on the setlist. Diane and A Moment… should be played as far apart as possible, since they’re both ‘mellow’ tunes. But I should add that I love A Moment Of Clarity, both on cd and live! Could live without Diane though, especially that dreadfully slow version, I really don’t like that version.

I’m pretty sure I’m right in saying that Suicide Pact hadn’t come out yet when they played Camden on the SP tour. I seem to remember the gig was on a Thursday and the album came out the following Monday…in which case, opening your set with a 6 minute instrumental that nobody would even know should be A VERY BAD IDEA!!! But Christ, it was a masterstroke…absolute class, and I wish they’d play it again.

Another vote for Big Cave-In. I love that song and it is, in my humble opinion, the perfect opener. Starts of with a drum-fill and just the perfect guitar sound, no vocals, just rock! And watching the boys play it live was fantastic too, Andy with long hair, everyone of the boys with grins like cheshire cats and Michael just strutting about the place like a complete rock star! *Drools* I really love the galloping bass towards the end as well.

I just think an opener should be loud and win the crowd over, like other people have said.

When I saw them play Glasgow the week before SP was released, they opened with He’s Not That Kind Of Girl and I actually thought it sounded better live than on the album. The “Hey”s during the chorus where a lot louder and so were the guitars.

I saw T? for the first time on sunday, at the wulfrun. They opened with Nowhere with Teethgrinder second. Teethgrider sounded wicked, I love the sound of that other snare he uses. I can’t wait to see em again.

I have a video of T? playing in 1992 and they open by playing the sample intro from fantasy bag on its own with a strobe light going then launch into a fast version of meat abstract, really cool.
But definately big cave in was excellent on the suicide pact tour.

Ahhh yes…I was there, I was the dude who was honoured enough to be dragged onstage to sing “Nowhere” with them…I’d KILL for a tape of that.

personally, Big Cave In is a top opener!

Hope you were better than the guy in Glasgow. I’ve said it about 3 times on this board, but he was fucking AWFUL. It really cannot be stressed enough :) He could only sing “going nowhere” over and over.

Which Camden gig do you mean? The Electric Ballroom? That gig was on Oct. 14 in 1999, I seem to remember that SP was released a week or so after that, it was the end of October anyway. I have a cd-r of that gig btw.
