Guest appearances

Started by Cactus

Hello, long time listener, first time caller, and all that jazz.
Since I just signed on thought I’d better throw in a new topic, probably been done before but I was listening to Get ur Groove on, the wildhearts song, yesterday, whats the best track a therapy? member has guest-appeared on? Always had a soft spot for Jonestown Mind by The Almighty actually.

Did Andy record something for that track? I have the Therapy? remix of “Jonestown Mind”, but I didn’t think he played on it.

Not so much a guest appearance, but I liked the collaboration between Therapy? & Sting on “Next To You”

Oh, welcome to the boards (finally) :)

This is a little bit off topic, but according to http://www.allmusic.com Andy plays the flute in some album recorded by the Canadian armed forces. Does anyone know if this is true? Also, Andy and Michael are credited on a best of thin lizzy album, but they didn’t play on it or produce it. What did they do exactly?

Just found another one - on ‘80 years of glory’ by calgary highlanders he was an ‘arranger’: http://image.allmusic.com/00/amg/cov200/drf900/f995/f99511d6i1l.jpg

and here’s ‘Canada supreme’ on which he was an ‘arranger’ too…

Does this mean yer T? collection isn’t complete without these albums? ;)

Wombles would also find the reviews of T? albums and the band synopsis on the website pretty interesting, they’re quite in-depth.

You can also find out that Neil Cooper was born in 1930. Pretty good looking for a guy of his age, isn’t he?

Welcome!!

Andy has had a mention on a few Almighty (great band) albums.
Jonestown Mind off the Crank album… That song has a great T? vibe in it at one point in particular.

I also think the last 2 albums - Almighty and Psycho Narco give out a “cheers”.

Alan, could be wrong but I think Andy did backing vocals on Jonestown, ie “Your the jesus that didn’t get nailed”, quite a Cairns-type lyric really. i actually quite like the t? remix of that song when in the right mood.

Dunno about T? members guesting on other people’s stuff, but my fave guest member on a T? recording has to be on Ten Year Plan, it’s the bit in the guitar solo when Sooty’s long time mucker Sweep starts singing. Genius!

Being wheeled around, pretty cool video actually.

Michael and Andy played at the 10th anniverery gig for philip lynott, they joind the remaining members of Thin Lizzy for a rockin rendition of Bad Reputation where Andy introduces the song as being about Michael. Andy sings on this. Henry rollins did a verison of “are you ready” at the same gig.
His annoucment was pure Rollins…
“the next time you see me…’long pause’…I’m gonna fuck you up like a car crash”

I’m not sure if andy ever did alternative ulster with jake burns of stiff little fingers, but i live in hope.

Also would love to see Alec empire and Andy do a wee number.

Martin (with Kimberlee) plays cello on the new Biffy Clyro album ‘The Vertigo of Bliss’, on ‘Bodies In Flight’, ‘With Aplomb’ and ‘Now The Action Is On Fire!’. Not bad going, considering the whole album was recorded in a day!

Andy most definately did sing on Jonestown Mind, and T? did a remix of it which was on the 2nd CD version of the single. I believe he also did vocals on “Waiting for Eathquakes” from Psycho Narco, along with Joe Elliot!
