I think I’m going to see Spineshank in a couple of weeks time (they are one of the bands on the Roadrage tour I think). Not sure I’d buy their albums coz it sounds like so much other stuff to me. But I think it’s good in a club situation so hopefully should be good live. If I like them live I’ll be more likely to buy their albums, probably.

As for Amen, not really heard any of their stuff so cant comment.

Spineshank are fans of Fear Factory, and from what I read their first Album was regarded in some way as a rip-off, which was kinda frustating for the band. I don`t know many Fear Factory songs so I can`t make a really qualified commment on that, but the album does indeed not sound very original (If I remember correctly, Fear Factory`s singer even makes a guest appearance on the last song). Though I think that`s not the most important aspect anyway when it comes to music. I appreciate if someone tries to be innovative, but that alone doesn`t make music good for me.

As for Amen, the first Time when I heard them I thought something like “Uh, sounds like Korn playing Punk”. Well, should be no surprise, after all, Ross Robinson was involved.

I’ve seen Spineshank live but wasn’t a fan, I was actually dragged by a friend who likes them. I bought “The Height…” for five quid and it’s got some very good tracks. A lot of albums are on my TO-BUY-LIST but I’m broke :(

I went to see Amen at the Astoria a couple of years ago. You wouldn’t believe me, they were playing with JJ72. Er, not at the same time on the same stage..

I’ve never really cared for Spineshank. I have friends who like them, though.

Amen are great. They’re one of the few newer bands I really like. And their live show is intense.

Apparently, Casey has rounded up some new members to fill the slots of Sonny Mayo who joined Hed PE and Shannon Larkin who is now playing drums for Godsmack. So apparently, there will be a new Amen record at some point. It’s just a matter of when.

yeah Amen are really good. Casey is the only original member left, the rest left after the band got dropped as they had no money and some of them have families/kids they need to support.
larkin now plays drums for Godsmack of all bands. Paul Fig (guitar) is in Bluebird, Sonny and Tumour are in some other band but can’t remember off hand which one.
Heard a rumour recently that Amen were picked up by Darren from SOAD for his new label and as far as i know they are working on stuff at the moment.
great band, pity they are getting rightly fucked by the system.

They have a new album out called Do You Imagine Things?
I’ve only heard one song of it, Stuntman, which sounds really good, maybe a bit too much flower power atmosphere, but nice anyway.

The Ministry remix of Coma America kicks ass.

Otherwise the stuff from join or die that I`ve listend so far is decent, I agree that`s it`s not as good as the self-titled and we`ve come…

I like the title track and “resurection fixed nothing” much, but especially the latter could have benefited from a better production I guess.

Is it just me or does that song sound indeed a bit like T?`s Nausea?
