Exactly - I thought they got the balance just right. Although I think I counted 6 from Troublegum which I reckon could have been cut down to maybe fit another SP-YF track in or one from Shameless

I also agree, I thought the set was one of the best I could remember, the balance was excellent, both new and old songs, and could Neil drum to those older songs, he rocked. It’s very refreshing that a band has the balls to play stuff prior to there so called ‘break’ through album, still. It was totally different from the show earlier in the year, and I also though the venue was much better, a gig for the hardcore fans, respect.

Title: Cheers for last night guys!

Many thanks to T? for last night! Had a fantastic time from the minute they came on - couldn’t stop smiling.

Amazing set - I realise how many albums they have now so it’s tough to get all the songs you want to hear. Still, they played some damn good stuff there.

Again cheers.

(Oh, and it was great chatting to Diamond Dave although I still can’t believe he remembers me from Aberdeen. Apparently this guy has a real good memory so I’m still taking it as a big compliment.)

Title: Couldn,t make the astoria gig.

Was gutted about missing the astoria gig last nite, as this would have been the first time that i have missed seeing them since ‘94.

Th best gig for me was at Tunbridge wells forum in aug 2000. That venue used to be the old public toilets, which were converted into a venue, with a superb pa, and a capacity to hold 200 people, so as you can imagine it was a hectic yet superb gig.

Although i did not go to the astoria gig, if you go to ‘carling live’, they always have the gigs displayed and send out an email of forthcoming events, like the Therapy astoria gig.

was a great set.
It really annoyed me though when the likes of Punishment Kiss & Dancin With Manson were played, there was no real crowd reaction.

Have to agree with that! It seemed like I was only one of a few people that even recognised Punishment Kiss, and the lack of reaction for Dancin With Manson was surprising seeing as that was one of the poll winners. And yet everyone goes mental for Church of Noise, which is a good song, but not a great song.

Having said that though, I thought PK was one of the weaker points in what was overall an excellent performance. Teethgrinder, Moment of Clarity, Turn and Sister were all absolutely blistering.

Did anyone else notice how empty the Astoria was though? I reckon it was only about 2/3rds to 3/4 full. It was rammed for The Distillers a couple of weeks ago, yet last night I made my way to the front without having to say excuse me to anyone, while the upstairs seating bit (which I’ve never really understood…why would you want to sit down?) was virtually empty.

Anyway, for those of you not there last night, here’s the setlist. I think I’ve remembered all the songs but I’m pretty sure I’ve screwed up the order!

(Speeded up William Tell Overture intro)
Nowhere
Teethgrinder
Nobody Here But Us
Limbo
Straight Life
Who Knows
Moment Of Clarity
Sister
Punishment Kiss
Turn
Church of Noise
Dancin With Manson
Rust
If It Kills Me
Stop It Your Killing Me
Potato Junkie
Screamager
Stories
Knives
Die Laughing
Isolation
(Your are my sunshine outro)

Have never been to the Astoria before, so couldn’t say whether it was empty or not, but I’d agree the point on PK and DwM, although those that did react seemed to really go for it (well, I’m still hoarse after DwM, anyway).

I assume that the William Tell Overture was the version from A Clockwork Orange?

Apparently (according to my mate Chris, who had his first mosh ever last night), the balcony was full of very fit women - anyone else notice?

Hope your head’s okay now.

hi everyone !
just got back to israel after being in london for 2 weeks.
i thought the gig was great, a great set list!!! and my favorite part of the gig was andy saying:
“What?!? you don’t think i can do love songs?” :D:D:D
that was so funny!!! the guys looked like in very happy mod which was very fun to watch.
also, a very strange thing happened to me:
before the show started i ran into Michael downstairs on my way to take a piss, so i said hi my name is roni, i’m from israel and looked at me and he was in total shock!!!!
it was so weird!!! usually, you’d think that i was supposed to be in shock meeting him but it was the other way around!! so i wished him and the guys goodluck and that was it.
brought the voodoo doll single autographed by the band.
had lots of fun!!!
cheers for you all !!!!!!!!!
