Title: Liverpool

Gutted, I got a ticket for Preston, I guess I would have sooner watched them in Liverpool, closer to home. I watched Joe Strummers last gig there, fantastic venue. Never mind though.
Pushing my luck a bit too far with the wife and baby if I try to get Liverpool in as well!!

Just thought last night. The venue isn’t at the Uni is it? the carling academy is the old L2.

Just checked. It isn’t at the Uni, but at the old L2 next to Lime Street Station. I remember T? playing there about 5 or 6 years ago, as I couldn’t make it to that gig, and so I still will not have seen them at that venue. I have been there when the club done a rock night, and the venue is quite large if my hazy memory is correct.

i wish these places would be clearer about where they live. last time i went there was to see Gary Numan & Rico, and that was billed as being in the L2… but the old L2. fuckers.

in this case, the venue is just around the corner from a shedload of boozers. if anyone wants to meet up for a bevvy, i’m up for that.

The very old L2, The Lomax was a smart venue wasn’t it? so small and dead intimate, I had only been there once, but I saw some of the flyers for bands who had played there in the past, and some big big bands like Oasis had played.
Sorry I won’t be meeting up with you for the gig though, if I could have changed my ticket I would, but heh there is always next time. Anyway, there will be one of us at each gig to give our thoughts :)

Yeah, I should be there, although I also made the mistake of getting a Preston ticket as well. Ah well, I’ll just attend both :D

Don’t know if it is true or not, I have looked at the Carling Academy website for this gig, and they say that there is a curfew of 10pm on the T? gig, 10pm on a Friday night???

Hey guys! *waves* Yup, i’m planning to wing my way over to Liverpool on the 5th for the gig! Really hope that 10pm curfew isn’t right though - i’ve no way of getting home until the morning, so i was just planning to stay out as late as poss!

So, where abouts is the venue? Last time i went to liverpool for a concert i got the wrong directions and ended up at the post office…

Jason1310 wrote:

Hey! *waves* The 10pm Curfew I think will be true because theres a club night that runs in the academy on Friday nights so I think the curfew will be set so as not to run into that

The venue is around the corner from Lime Street Station- Hotham Street? it’s the old Lomax :)

You can come out with me and my mate, dunno where we’ll be going after the gig mind you…probably decide on the spot ;)

re: 10pm curfew. two words for afterwards. Krazy House. that place is open until about 4am, i think? it’s in Wood Street, which is a little hike, but you’ll dig it when you get there. lots of people will be able to direct you to it.

the last time i saw T? in Liverpool was there, with Fyfe. fun times. me and my girlfriend then proceeded to get shitfaced with them in the dressing room. first time i saw Neil play was there too. that was about ‘90/91. yikes. could get quite emotional in there *sniff* :o;):D

as for meeting up for a pint before hand, there’s a pub on the corner inbetween Lime Street & the venue, called Ma Egertons. it’s a bit of an old mans boozer, but it’s about the nearest.

if anyone needs any directions or anything, let me know here and i’ll see if i can help out.

Agree with you about the Krazy House, all drinks buy one get one free as well, except water.

Oh yeah can’t remember which thread I saw it in but if anyone else is having trouble getting tickets for any UK gig or think they’re overpriced try Way Ahead Box Office. I always get all my gig tickets from here with no hassles :) Here’s the link for T? gigs:

Hi Karl! Yup, sorry i’ve been gone so long!

Cool, i’ve never been to the Krazyhouse, although loads of my friends have said it’s really good there. Yay, i have new friends to go with! :D

I’ll have to check what time my stupid plane gets in - i think it’s about 5 pm, so i’ll probably be going straight to the venue (knowing my tendency to get lost every time i go to liverpool, lol).

I got my ticket from aloud.com, or someone like that. They’re usually quite good.

Hey Blonde Blade, where are you from? :)

Krazy House isn’t bad- I’ve kind of gone off it now because when I go (generally a saturday), it’s the same old songs in the same old order- a bit of variety would be nice!

Are we all going to meet up for an alcamofrolic beverage beforehand then? :P

i’m up for a pint, sure. the pub i suggested further up this thread is probably the easiest for the out-of-towners, as it’s on the same block as the venue. you find one, you’ve found the other. it’s also bang next to Lime Street’s taxi rank. again, easy to find.

off topic: if anyone if Liverpool is up for a gig tonight, my mates are playing in the Zanzibar in Seel Street. Neil used to manage the band (before he got a bit busy), and they’re called Intentions of an Asteroid. they’re due on around 9-ish, and it promises to rawk! \m/

Sure, i’m up for meeting beforehand - i know where Lime St Station is (although not much else, lol), so somewhere around there would be cool.

I’ve got Intentions of an Asteroid’s demo and it does indeed fucking kick arse! I’d havegone to that as well, but I’m off to the match tonight and then to get slaughtered in town afterwards. I’ll try and get to their next gig though, but I do recommend them :)

Ma Egerton’s sounds fine, and will someone help me to meet the band? :D

the gig was fucking boss, and i’m shockingly hungover today, considering the lame amount i had to drink. grr.

i’ll probably point you out to them, if you want

no idea yet, but it’s probably going to be around the 9pm area. i really can’t see them playing for more than an hour, but ask people who’ve been to previous gigs on this tour.

you could always ring the venue and ask them.
