Rico

I can’t believe after seeing so many bands in this thread nobody has mentioned the best thing to come out of Glasgow since deep-fried Mars-bars: RICO. He toured with T? a few years back and made one of the best tours yet for me.
There’s some multimedia to watch and listen to on http://www.rico.com if you are not familiar with his music.

Check it out, it rocks heavy.

i used to run a Rico fan site called rico medicine, which rocked. i closed it down when he “left” EMI though, because i was too busy to maintain it.

for the record, i mentioned him the other day :p

can’t remember which tour it was now. They’ve all rolled into one big hazy ball. Sanctuary Medicine is easily one of the best albums of the last few years.

I struggled to get into Rico on the start of the SP-YF tour, but after going to my 7th show on the tour, i really started to enjoy his performance. Especially “attack me” wheere he goes a bit mental

Rico went through the same thing asT? his label let him down, and did him over. I got to meet him on the last tour in Glasgow, he was a real nice guy…I hope he does more stuff.

cracking guy. But we’ve been waiting a long time for new stuff. He brings out new songs sometimes on his site, but a new album seems to be a few months off.
He’s been remixing quite a few songs for young Glasgow bands as well (The Guitarz…).
He did a cover of ‘Devils Gun’ for the Frankie Miller tribute Album a while ago, but otherwise he’s been quite quiet.

Title: Live dates:

I’m going to keep harking on about this till you all buy everything Rico has ever done. So here we go again:

Thu 16th September - Glasgow - King Tut’s

from http://www.rico.co.uk :

At the moment the only date confirmed is King Tut’s-Glasgow on Thu 16th September.
We will be adding some dates around the U.K. but, to be honest, there won’t be many of them untill we get a better idea of how things are going. I’ll definitely be adding a London Show and either Manchester or Liverpool for now and if we can get the record moving a bit then a full tour will be booked.

Go!

Title: RELEASE DATE MOVED TO JULY 12th [June 25th 2004]

me again and you lot will listen.

“The album release has slipped back a week due to stuff that I’m afraid I can’t control. It’s basically due to one of the major record store outlets placing a substantial order for the new record based on some promo they are running for us on the week of the new release date.”

Cross in your calender!

Title: Martin McCarrick to join Rico on stage in London

Hi all, I’m very pleased to say that Mista Numan will be joining us at The Garage in London on Sun 7th Nov. He’ll be joining us for Crazier and Big Black Sea. This is a total one-off and it really looks like it’s going to be a good night. In addition to this Martin McCarrick [ex-Therapy?] will be joining us on cello for Recommended Dose. Support will be provided by Mignon and Death Boy. If the crowd at the London Barfly are anything to go by, the night should be pretty awesome. So to all you folks that turned out at that gig please try to make it along…it would be dead good to see you all again. Cheers! Rico
