Tilburg

Everybody still seems to be sleeping since I’m the first one here…

Anyway, again a killer show yesterday with this time Stories on the setlist (first time this tour).

The complete setlist is somewhere in my T? car but first I have to get ready to go to Den Haag :D

Nice one that Andy dedicated Teethgrinder to all the WOM members (and not only to Rene this time :p)!

Also cool to see Diamond Dave again, although he was stoned as hell :D

Indeed another brilliant gig, although the crowd wasn’t as ‘lively’ as during the other gigs, but that’s a structural problem in Tilburg I guess. Really nice to meet some WOMbles again! You guys, enjoy the rest of the tour!

Please keep this thread about the show in Tilburg, thanks.

I’m pretty surprised to see A Moment Of Clarity as the opener! It’s not what I would call starting off with a bang, so to speak. As for the atmosphere in 013, it’s never been very good for any show I’ve seen there to be honest, including the one time I saw Therapy? there, which is why I decided to skip this one.

There was a review about the Tilburg gig in ‘Brabants Dagblad’ (regional newspaper) today, including a huge picture of Andy singing. Translation of the article is as follows:

————————————————————————————-
Therapy? still energetic in the margin

Northern-Irish Therapy? used to be labeled as the heir of U2. Although the quartet, led by singer Andy Cairns, only made their mark in the beginning of the ‘90’s, the sound of both bands is grafted on new wave. But every comparison stops here.
Admitting instantly, Therapy? will never be as big as U2. The band, which exists for fourteen years now, hasn’t shown enough originality for that, instantly adding that this doesn’t matter at all. Therapy? is a solid rockband, as they proved yesterday in 013. The fourpiece rammed effortlessly through an energetic set, which included songs from the ‘hitalbums’ Troublegum and Infernal Love, but also from High Anxiety which was released earlier this year.
Approximately 600 visitors heard that this album’s repertoire at most tends somewhat more towards rock, but that the essence is unaltered. Therapy? still plays songs with recognizable choruses and a clear beginning and end.
It didn’t matter that the band is not as hip as it was in say 1995. Also in the margin, Cairns’ humour is pleasantly relativizing. The band’s effort and love for playing can take the shine out of many a disposable band.
—————————————————————————————

Above the pic of Andy it says: ‘Energetic frontman Therapy?’

I have mixed feelings about this review, but everybody’s entitled to his or her own opinion.

Nope, Diamond Dave isn’t doing the merchandise. I spoke to him yesterday shortly, and he stated that he used to do it. ;) It’s the same girl who did the merchandise on the tour in May this year.

Although the audience wasn’t as lively as usual, I think the gig in 013 was a brilliant one! T? still seemed to enjoy themselves on stage big time. Tacker was quite a good warm-up, too!

PS: Message to Sam (anyway, the pink-haired girl behind the merchandising-counter): On behalf of my utterly drunk friend, I’d like to apologise for the fact that you were missing the T?-lighter. Yup, that drunk idiot nicked it, as he thought someone left it there. I kicked his arse so hard, that it still smells like shoepolish. I’ll buy you a spiff/pint anyday!

Diamond Dave was on a short holiday and just came to see T?.

Good show, but not that much crowd reaction. I liked Weert better.
