Yes, they are briliant. Try to get the Untitled single, it comes with a dvd with three videos on it, very atmospheric ones, e.g. Svefn-g-englar (from Agaetis Byrjun) has the band dancing around with menntally handicapped children.
And they also manage to be an excellent live band, too.

I had the good fortune to see ‘em supporting Godspeed You! Black Emperor (or Godspeed You Black Emperor! as they were back then) in the Empire a few years back. A lot of people thought they were better than the headliners that night (though not me). I like Agaetis Byrjun, though I haven’t heard much of ().

I used to love them, got bored of them now, though. They do have some brilliant tracks - 1 and 8 from ( ) are incredible.
Also, they’re absolutely stunning live. It was my introduction to the band, and I was almost in tears when they played Vaka/Untitled 1.

I like to listen to them when I go to sleep (that’s not meant to be a negative comment in any way), like I listen to Radiohead’s “Kid A” when I’m tired.
Untitled 1 & 4 are their best tracks, along with “Ny Batteri”, IMO.
The Cameron Crowe statement that’s printed on a sticker that comes with “Aegetis Byrun” (sp?) says it best: “The best filmmaking you’ll hear in years!”.
