Feeder…

Just read it on mtv.co.uk: the drummer of Feeder committed suicide. This is fucked up, within a week, two drummers of great bands are gone. What a bad start of a musical year…

oh, and the bassist for EMF, Zac Foley, died last week too. Most of you probably don’t care and think they suck, but that’s ok, i still think they rock!

You can’t judge him and say he is a coward ‘cause you don’t even know why he did it, or do you?

Following are two entries in the guestbook of http://www.loewenbomber.de:

FEEDER vocalist GRANT NICHOLAS has said drummer JON LEE’s family have urged the group not to split following the suicide of their son on Monday (January 7).

As revealed yesterday on NME.COM, Lee took his own life at his home in Florida. He was aged 33.

Speaking to Radio 1, Nicholas said that there was ‘a real bond’ between him and Lee.

He commented: ‘It’s just terrible really. There was a real bond between the two of us.’ He also revealed that he has spoken to the family of the late drummer, who urged the band to stay together.

Tributes to Lee are also forthcoming today. Stereophonics, who recently toured Europe with Feeder, described the loss as ‘tragic’.

In a statement, they said: ‘We wish to offer our condolences to the family and friends of Jon Lee, drummer with Feeder. Last year we toured together in both Europe and the UK and had a great time. Jon was always the life and soul…always up for a party, so it is a great shock to hear this tragic news.’

In related news, the details of Lee’s death are starting to emerge. Veronica Lamar of the Miami-Dade County Medical Examiner’s Office confirmed to the local Miami Herald newspaper that Lee hanged himself at his home.

______________________________________________________________________

Er sagte: ‘ALL COMES TO HE WHO WAITS’.

Im Interview offenbarte er zudem: ‘My wife is from Brazil, she lived there and I didn’t want to take her to Britain, where it is often raining.’ Wir sprachen eigentlich über das Wetter in München und ihre Lieblingsorte auf der Welt. Weiter sagte Jon: ‘I love New York, I like Los Angeles. Miami, where I live, is not my favourite place, because America is becoming quite expensive.’

An old friend of mine in high-school lost his dad in a tragic way when he committed suicide, just 9 months after his sister tried to kill herself. His dad left his wife with a paralyzed daughter and a 17 year-old son. Now, this guy has completely lost his mind, I know he has used all kinds of drugs (both soft and hard drugs), and has criminal friends. One of those friends is a known dealer, another is in jail because he robbed a supermarket. I think this is for a large part due to his family situation. So I too think suicide is kinda cowardly, especially in this particular situation. As for the Feeder drummer, he had a wife and a kid, there must be other ways to solve your problems besides suicide. He isn’t exactly a hero now, is he?

of course, but I guess he didn’t see them. I doubt you think about suicide because you’re afraid your problems could be solved.

And what would be if he hadn’t a wife, a kid, what would have been if he was just one of those people who died lonely without anyone noticing? In this case, it can’t really be selfish, according to the logic here.

Now, I haven’t lost someone by suicide, but the one died slowly, torturing himself until the point where everyone said he should give up. In the end you could say that he did, and I would have felt very bad if I had went to him saying ‘stay here, we need you’. Now the difference is, of course that there was nothing that could be done about this death, it may only have been delayed.

I just think the message ‘people who commit suicide are selfish and cowardly ‘coming from people who claim to love the one who died is highly ironic. It depends on the situation though, but it looks to me like a black/white point of view.
You could say that nazis etc. were cowardly for not wanting to pay for their crimes proberly and dying by their own hands, but I doubt that most people deserve such a punishiment as the nazis did. Which makes it sad when someone sees no other way than to end his life.

Of course it depends on the situation. Some may see euthanasia as a form of suicide, but I think it’s better to die with minimal pain instead of waiting for the inevitable painful end. And it’s a bit different too when you don’t have people around you that you love (and that love you). But if you have a young child, imagine what the impact would be if you would commit suicide. It would change his/her life for ever, and not for the good.

Christian wrote:

well yes, but the one who commits suicide either

a) really doesn’t care about that, the same as some parents give a fuck about their childs

or

b) doesn’t think it makes a difference, he might even think it will be good for the sake of his child or something like that.

That’s how I would imagine it. When you feel you’re nothing like a burden to those that care for you and think without them there’s nothing to expect from life anyway, you simply end it. As I wrote above, it might even be because you do care much more about the feelings of others than that of your own.

Well Mr Precursor,

It’s a good thing you live in England and not in Belgium, or else I would kick your little ass. This is a very delicate topic and every situation is different. There is no black or white opinion here, regardless if you think committing suicide is for cowards: the ones that are left behind have to cope with this and are the main victims.

Don’t ever judge a personal situation of anyone because you don’t know shit. You’re a fucking idiot in my opinion.

That’s a different meaning than:

‘everybody who’s committing suicide is just a coward and egotistic…whatever kind of problem they have, it’s no reason to do that and leave your family and all the people you love alone!!!’

‘Don’t ever judge a personal situation of anyone because you don’t know shit’

Roxy did.

Everyone has the right to do whatever he wants to do with his life, even if that means killing yourself. It is the last thing a really desperate person can do, and no one should judge about it, because no one really knows what’s on that person’s mind. We all should be glad that we’re healthy and alive, but we also should give some respect to those who didn’t want to continue the daily struggle. We don’t know Jon’s reasons to do this, but I know that the last thing his family would like to read about him is such a stupid statement as roxy has posted here. If you didn’t care about him while he was alive, why do you pay attention on him when he’s dead???? Just leave him and his family alone, because they don’t need any stupid comments from people who didn’t even notice him when he was still alive! I hope that never ever one of Jon’s friends will read this stupid stuff in here because they will think of T? fans as stupid, intolerant fuckers which some of us surely are…
