Audience on scopophobia

#

Started by Karl

What are your thoughts on the audiences in general on this tour. I watched T? in Preston on Monday, and there just didn’t seem to be much enthusiasm in the crowd, apart from the right!
But I remember reading a couple of reviews on WoM and a couple of people have said this.
I watched them on the first date of HA in Manchester, and this was totally different, and I come out with multiple bruises.

the one on portsmouth was shite before the encore, i really felt sorry for the guys as they were giving it their all. i guess there were only a handfull of fans there though, most just seemed they were there for something to do.
I did notice thogh that there was a really wide range of people there. i mean last year i was dragged along to see pitchshifter *ack* and itwas just a bunch of kiddy rockers in their black and hoody spikey things. slipknow kiddies if that makes sense.
At the therapy gig there was a real assortment of ages and types of people, you had people who had been fans from the very beginning and were now like in their 30s or something and looked like average joe, hell i even saw a fairly old guy who looked totally out of place having a good old head bop. then you had a bunch of kiddy rockers with the steriotype image, the odd seattle biker grunge style etc…I’ve never seen a band attract such a assortment of people before. I guess alot of the older people just wanted to watch instead of bounce around but hey. I personally was just happy to listen to the guys play and enjoy the music instead of mosh and get bruised.

When i saw T? in 2001 i took my dad along and he got really worried about me getting squashed right at the front. Bless, what are the older generation like? :D

I agree, i’ve never known a band to have such a weirdly diverse fanbase. Makes for a fun evening though, doesn’t it?

My g/f thought the London crowd were more restrained than in May, and there were fewer crowd surfers, but I thought most people seemed pretty into it.

Leeds were definitely a great crowd. A bit slow at the start (and I didn’t mind that as had room to dance on the fourth row) but it sooned picked up. The Manchester crowd in May were great too.

Belfast was absolutely hellish, most evil pit ever. I suspect that was a combination of it being a homecoming gig and it being recorded making everyone go a bit mad.

I guess it is Belfast that I am comparing things to, as I wish I was there, as the crowd look manic on the DVD.
There weren’t any crowd surfers at Preston, as I don’t think there was much of a crowd to surf on!! There was even a crush barrier to put your coat on!!! On the other hand though it was great to be in a small venue
T? rocked though, and put in yet another fantastic performance.

The audience in Vicenza was insane. And hilarious.
Some big guy with long hair was headbanging in the front and the girl next to him was just desperate. A couple of guys were jumping up and down on a sofa…
at some point it all goes quiet. the band is just about to start a song and the only thing you hear is someone singing the chorus from ‘Hellbelly’…Michael says something like, ‘everyone wants to sing tonight…’ and we all turn to this guy holding a drink, a wise look on his face…man, that was fun. you should’ve been there to understand what I mean…

Was The Astoria anything approaching full? Cos it’s quite a bit bigger than the LA2/meanfiddler!

There were more people there than at the Astoria, but it certainly wasn’t overcrowded. You could get to the bar without too much trouble.

It is fair to say that you will never beat the belfast crowd at a Therapy? gig. I’ve seen them 3 times in Belfsat and the response and feeling of belonging is overwhelming, thats not to say the rest of the world arn’t just as rocking

Years of alcohol abuse have taken their toll. Any more T? gigs and my frail and dying heart will stop dying. Oh shit their back in April.

Goodbye cruel world!

Glasgow was always mad whenever I’ve been there for a T? gig. I got my face kicked in when I saw T? on the Sucide Pact - You First tour in the Glasgow Garage. I had a huge black eye for the next week, which was cool cos everyone at uni thought I was well hard :)

I’ve got one of Graham’s sticks, but I had to wrestle it out of the hands of a geek who grabbed it the same time as me. No split lip from said incident though.

TJ’s Newport can’t be beaten, the whole place was jumpin and always does when T? are in town. As for being old at 30 I’m 34 and stil mosh with the best of them, it just means I’ve seen them many more times than some of the kiddies… T? are for everyone not just teens and twentysomethings.
