Trigger Inside

#

Started by Taunty Kev

Hi all,

This is my first posting on here, a bit new to all this. Does anybody out there know how to play guitar of Trigger Inside? I can get bits of it but there’s no decent tabs of it out there. Cheers.

I’ve kinda figured out a way to play it, but it doesn’t differ horribly from the version already out there. I’ll post it later today after I get home from work so I can play along with my guitar to make sure I post it as correctly as poss. However, I can already tell you that the outro bit sounds a LOT better when you play it like this (monospaced of course)

e————————
B————————
G————————
D———-<5>———
A——<5>—-<5>—-
E—<5>—————-

And the verse riff is best played thus (also monospace this)
e——————————————————
B——————————————————
G——————————————————
D———5——-5——-5——5———-7——
A—7-7——77——7-7—77——-5-5—-5—
E——————————————————
Remember to palm mute this bit

The “Lonely, Lonely” bit on that tab is way off. I’ll post that in my tab

And the intro “scale” that sounds a bit like Metallica is simply A, A#, B, C played once in sucession (a la Wherever I May Roam)

Anyway, I’ll stop now in case any of that stuff is wrong.. plus my boss is giving me dirty looks and will figure out I’ve been spending my time doing nothing productive:)

Phew. Sorry this is a bit late, decided to go to the gym after work. Anyway, this is my tab of Trigger Inside. It’s perhaps a bit badly explained, but all the riffs needed to play the song are contained in this tab. Let me know if you need something explained or if you think something could be improved ;)

For the harmonics bit just palm mute roughly on the 3rd, 5th, 7th, 9th, and twelth frets (cos it’s in E), thats what Andy does live. When you work out how to do it it’s the same for Church of Noise.

Dudes, I figured out I fucked up on the “something in my head…” part. It alternates between A#5 and A5 and not G5 and A5. For those of you who don’t know what this means it’s like this..

e——————————
B——————————
G——————————
D-7—-8-7—-8-7—-8—
A-7—-8-7—-8-7—-8—
E-5—-6-5—-6-5—-6—

(monospaced of course)

also about the main riff, remember you could play the first bit like in the first tab, i.e. alternating between the E5 (open powerchord with the open E string as the root-note) and G (third fret, E string), but you *have to* play the proceeding bit on the A and D strings like I’ve tabbed it. The alternative is to tune your guitar to drop D, but *I* think it sounds “wrong” because it’s too growly and deep sounding.

Yeah, I thought those chords sounded a bit off but the rest of it is fantastic - thanks a lot.

Heh no problem. I was playing along with it last night on headphones and I was just thinking “what the fuck? I’m out of key”. Headphones really are invaluable for making tabs, at least for me.

I noticed one other mistake in the tab. I think the second ‘Lonley, Lonely’ bit goes down to G then F sharp (no hash key on keyboard) instead of G then A. Also, I thought the harmonics were on the 12th fret rather than the 5th? Maybe I’m wrong- I’m not too good at harmonics.

You’re right about the second “Lonely, lonely” bit. I ammended my tab on http://www.sucidepact.com (direct link here : http://www.suicidepact.com./cgi/tablature.cgi?tab=210)

Wrt the harmonics, you can play them in different positions, but the 5th fret sounds good to me.

I’ve been watching/ listening to Scobophobia. About the harmonics, Andy plays them on the 5th, Martain played them on the 12th fret.

Also, I think the main riff is actualy this. A bit anal of me, I know, but at least its right

B——————————————————
G——————————————————
D———5——-5——-5——————7——
A—7-7——77——7-7—77—0—-5-5—-5-
E——————————————————

Actually, I just had a listen to the CD and I disagree - my version of the main riff is right. Although if you’re tabbing yours from Scopophobia it might be played differently live. The intro riff for “I Am The Money” is different live from the studio version.

You’re probably right about live variations (maybe its even just Martin playing the open A) because neither I nor my freinds heard the open A before Scobophobia, but then, we weren’t really listening for it… Well, I geuss its good to have both anyway…

What miffs me about the live version of “I Am the Money” is Martin doesn’t play most of the fills he does in the studio  The fast bit for example - he just plays the same as Andy :( And now I’ll never get to hear him play it live again :( :( :(

And am I alone in thinking the version of “Trigger Inside” on Scopophobia is a bit sloppy?

Yes, you’re alone. Nah, just kidding- but I liked the live version- energetic or something. While we’re on the subject, 10 year plan is also played differently- it has an extra note in the main riff. What’s up with that? Answers on a postcard.

I’ve just been playing this today, but in drop C!!!
It sounds meaty as hell, especially on an SG. If you play it on the lower frets, it’s a bit tricky to play fast but, my god…!

But it does sound good, real chunky, and it’s got a bit more of a groove to it…
