Hoodies

Started by White Psycho

OK something I have wanted for years is a T? hoodie, so when the merchandising woman said she had some I was happy, but she showed me one. For £30 I expect a little more than just saying “Therapy?” so I didn’t buy one, do you think there’ll be any chance of a decent T? hoodie?

Yeah, I’d be up for getting a nice dark blue or grey T? hoodie. To be honest, I’d probably be happy enough with the one you describe!

A couple of years ago i saw this guy with what i can only describe as a T? anorak. It was before the Mandella Hall gig (not the one filmed for the DVD), but the guy said he wasnt going to it. Pretty weird all round really.

You should have offered to replace said anorak with a new normal one, as the man was evidently not much of a T? fan anymore ;)

Official band hoodies are usually made of okay fabric, but the designs are crap.

Unofficial ones are fairly priced, but the designs are sometimes made with cheap materials and the fabrics are more often than not crap.

So stick with t-shirts and spend the extra money on booze, women, CDs or alternatively some “proper” clothes :)

*ahem*

I currently don a Machine Head one most of the time, which I thieved from lil sis some time ago. I have a T? fleece, it’s green with an embroidered red gemil on the left. Bought it in ‘95 and it’s still in good nick. I remember the SD tour hoodies but couldn’t afford one :(

Well, I’m 24 and I’m a hoodie wearer. (is this Hoodies anonymous? ;-) ). My ‘favourite’ hoodie was my Machine Head one, but that has now been bumped to second place with the purchase of my black “Heavyfuckingmetal” Therapy? hoodie at the Reading gig.

Actually, speaking of bootleg merchendise, I remember seeing System of a Down at the Brixton accademy, and after buying an official T-shirt, I remember being annoyed when I came outside that not only were the bootlegs much better, but I could have got two of them… The bootleg SOAD stuff really kicked ass.

Hey hoochalobster, I just had a look at your biog and you’re born on 6th of June 1980. Well, I’m born on the 29th of May 1989, so nyah, I am older than you ;) I don’t mean to diss hoodies (if that’s even possible), it’s just when I see these 14 year-old kids walking around with their mums wearing Slipknot hoodies I feel like I’m a bit too old to wear them.

If I could find a nice hoodie made with good fabrics, with a good design and it didn’t break the bank (£30 or less), I’d buy one. However, my experience has been mostly bad.. my fav hoodie ever was the Ramones’ last tour one. I even wore that in my graduation picture from high school :)

The only T? t-shirts I have (T? tees if you will… I’ll get my coat) are :

The one from the Infernal Love tour which is off-white with the cover of the album on the front and tourdates on the back and one

One from the Shameless tour which has got Gemil with two chequered flags on it. I kinda want one of the ones with Therapy? written in Marshall-type font, but I’m not too keen on buying one second-hand over the web (I’ve had bad experiences).

And why does the bootleg merch almost always have better designs?

I’m gonna guess you meant ‘79 - else I shall accuse you of being a munchkin in disguise :p

I’ve got far too many T?shirts (;)), on the tour they did in May they were selling the Marshall one (‘irony?’ backprint) and I suspect it’ll come around again so you can get a new one :)

I’m glad you said almost always, outside one T? gig the bootleggers were selling tie-dyed orange and purple t-shirts with the Troublegum cover on - it was the most most revolting thing I have ever seen in my life.

Yes, almost always. I’ve seen some rubbish bootleg designs in my time. The worst is this ‘A’ bootleg baseball t-shirt I have, the colours are just awful. I bought it at night-time, and didn’t realise how bad it looked until the next day. It’s blue and red, but it’s the shades of blue and red that makes it awful. Plus the design is made with really crap materials, so it started to fade after just 1 wash :( I only paid £10 for it though.

What i dont like is this!…
Im a lady, but i dont always want to buy a ‘skinny’ because im not too keen on a lot of them(i have about 3 wildhearts ones!) However when i saw T? at nottingham last week they sold me a kick ass girls top that cost 15quid(JAH!-a bit too expensive on my nurses meagre wage!)I am very proud that bands actually see that some girls like a bit of variety(you know we cant wear the same thing twice!)

Thank you therapy?,…remember without girls there’d be no rock’n’roll.

I’m 23 in a few months and think i’m a bit old too compared to all those skate kids in Linkin Park + Slipknot hoodies.

pah. I’m 33, and I’ll wear whatever I bl**dy well like. nobody, and I mean nobody is keeping me from the comfort and pleasure of my hooded sweatshirts and jackets.

too old? fossilisation is only a phrase away. ;)

I think 23 is old. That’s all I’m saying :) I guess you’re only as old as you feel. I just feel like *I* am too old to wear one. If you guys think a hoodie feels great, by all means wear one.

My main gripe is with the quality/price of your average hoodie anyway. For example, here in Oslo, if you go into your average band hoodie-selling shop, you have to pay at least 500 kr (roughly £40), it’ll be made of cheap fabric and the “design” consists of the band’s newest album cover on the front and maybe something on the back.

re patches - I’ve got a black one with a yellow gemil, I got it from a record shop in Leeds. Not sure if it’s official merch though.

I like hoodies, especially those with a zipper. What annoys me is the great price difference (that applies to t-shirts as well). I think the 30 GBP, or 45 euro T? charged for theirs is quite expensive.
The last hoodie I bought was a zipped one from Hot Water Music for 25€ in top quality.
Aereogramme are selling hoodies on their current tour for 30€ whis is a fair price as well, I suppose.
