Troublegum Anniversary Edition

#

Started by Andy D (Andy)

Wouldn’t it be great if T? released a double edition of Troublegum in february, celebrating the 10th anniversary of their real breakthrough album? Suggested content of the second disc would be a live registration of one of their gigs they did on that tour or all the B-Sides of the singles that came from that album or even better a mix between those 2 suggestions. What do you all think? Alternative versions of all the songs would be nice as well but when I say alternative, I mean alternative and not just some added production.

hell - noooooooo!
they can do that about 10 years after they’ve split up, but please, not now. they ain’t dead, they don’t need to rerelease things, let them make new albums instead.

I agree.. Didn’t they mention that they were about to release new album in the beginning of 2004.. Let them finish this upcoming album in peace so that it’ll became as classic as HA..

I agree. I know it’s a bit early to start asking, but does anyone know when their new album is due for release?

I always thought David Bowie got the exclusive right for anniversary editions.

Its a nice idea but i don’t think it would be practical for T? to re-release Troublegum. It was mentioned in Rocksound a few months ago that T? were working on new material but i think it be a while before they have a new album out.

i think it’s not such a bad idea really. they don’t have to go out promoting it or anything, and if it get’s one more person into t? then surely this is a good thing. for the die-hard fans it’ll mean very little about the extra’s and stuff but if it widens their fanbase without having to do loads of promotion then how can this not be of benefit? they can still carry on with the new album and readying themselves for the accompanying tour. don’t shout at me in response please…

p.s. i am aware this is all hypothetical and as such no-one’s opinion really matters :)

This is a bit off-topic but Weezer’s gonna do it with their debut.

because to me that would seem like a bit of a sell-out. don’t know why, in my opinion they really should not do this - as i already put it: they’re not dead yet, they should not focus on the past, but on the future! (and starting from the high-anxiety-point-of-view, that future seems great!)

but i do agree with you about that!

If T? ever did decide to release an Anniversary or ‘special edition’ of Troublegum if they included a booklet with liner notes from the band and a bonus disc of demos/b-sides from the Troublegum era and some of the videos like Turn which was left off Scopophobia it would be cool.

I’d kill for a disc full of the b-sides and demos I can’t get my hands on. I already have Troublegum (I bought the album 3 times and have resorted to burning it onto my hard drive so when it gets scratched I can make myself a new copy) but would love to have all those songs that I can’t even get without forking over a fortune for out of print singles.

I think because the band are still actually together and still releasing new material, i don’t think it’d be a good idea. Troublegum was then but this is Therpay? now. It’d be kinda like 2 steps back in a way and Therapy? still have have so much more to offer post Troublegum.
