@ BK re humour, I disagree, but then, I’m an old fart. Re your other comments, you seem pretty much on the ball I think. I hope the Oasis one will rock, but 3 nil points in a row makes that a pretty small hope.

I think its good to have a balance i get a bit bored sometimes of rock bands singing about their ‘fucked up childhoods’etc etc.

There were a few good songs on the last Oasis album but on the whole it could have been a lot better.Heathen Chemistry was a big seller and the tours sold out but i think this next Oasis album will make or break them creatively.

Jimmy Eat World are a good band but sometimes their lyrics are a bit soppy.

I would be very shocked if Gun N Roses released a new album.

Heh heh re JEW - sad but true, although they still rock. Hey JEW! Go tour!

Between the last 3 Oasis albums, there’s about 1 album’s worth of good stuff - stop cryin your heart out and little by little were both good though.

G’n’R will only release an album when everyone’s stopped caring. No album ever took this long to make and still was any good, with the excpetion of Psyence Fiction.

Damon Albarn will be releasing the new Gorillaz album, hes proving more interesting now that Oasis ever were,Think Tank was one of the best albums of 2003.Mali Music got some good reviews but i have only heard a few tracks off it.

Liam and Noel are always very funny check out the Live Forever DVD,Be Here Now gets slated a lot as the worse Oasis album but i that dubious honour goes to Standing On The Shoulders Of Giants.

One band i forgot about until i heard one of their songs on the radio today was Garbage i read in an interview Butch Vig said the next Garbage album would be darker than Beautifulgarbage, while it wasn’t a complete disaster i didn’t think it was as good as the first two albums.

the only album i’m looking forward to that i can think of is the cure’s new album which should be out by summer. i’m a bit worried though what with ross robinson being at the helm.

oh, and i’m interested to see what the manics get up to but i have already resigned myself to the fact that it will be crap. go on boys, surprise me. please!

I read somewhere that Ross Robinson is a big fan of The Cure,Rick Rubin seemed liked an odd choice for Johnny Cash and Cash released some of his best stuff. So who knows maybe Ross Robinson will be a good choice.

I think the Manics album will go either way very good or very very bad,i liked the sound of the recent songs There By The Grace Of God and 4 Ever Delayed, the lyrics could have maybe needed a bit more work. This next MSP album is supposed to have a stripped down feel and will be very short just ten songs.

that’s a good thing, i liked their latest efforts though sometimes i got the feeling that they wanted to put to much ideas in one song/album,
I’m really looking forward to that album also because of Tony Visconti ofcourse

The last two Bowie albums have been very good so i was pleased to hear MSP picked Tony Visconti as producer.

Heres some info and pics from Tony Viconti’s official site.

i hope to GOD that the prodigy and portishead, and guns n roses, for that matter, DON’T release new stuff. Classic case of waiting for years and then being VERY disappointed i feel. I’m waiting for new stuff from the libertines, the streets, daft punk, and aphex twin. And is this the year we’re finally gonna get that fucking Nirvana box set???

Haha, how did you guess? Oh man, they’re not releasing another, are they?

Bad Karma wrote:

They’re “in the studio”. Haha. Who knows.

Alien was a fake… the band confirmed that it was just a rumour. The new album is still all material never spoken about.
NIN… Bleedthrough is set for release on Nothing sometime in the first half of the year. It’s all very hush hush, I think, but it’s definitely coming.

I liked The Libertines first single What A Waster but i didn’t think the album was very good,i would be very interested in a Nirvana boxset.

Apart from a live DVD Portishead haven’t released any new material since 1997,they have all side projects at the moment.

MONSTER MAGNET:MONOLITHIC, BABY!(came out in Europe, but comes out here in the States in March)
CLUTCH:BLAST TYRANT(March)
MINISTRY:HOUSES OF THE MOLE(summer,maybe)
DILLINGER ESCAPE:No official release date or title yet, but one name they were thinking about was THE IDIOTS GUIDE TO JESUS VOL.1: HUNTING & TRAPPING.
HELMET: No tittle or release date for this either, & I still don’t know who else is in the band or if it’s even a done deal. If youv’e bought the Best of, you can use it to listen to a new song called SMART at thier official website. Thing is, I’m pretty sure this was one of the songs Page Hamilton wrote for his solo record. A fansite posted a few of these a couple of years back, so it may be from those sessions, unless it got re-worked by the new line-up(if theres a line-up at all). Frankly, I’m not holding my breath for this one.
FANTOMAS:DELIRIUM DISCORDIA:Out now, but I still havent picked it up(I’m a sinner).
THERAPY?: You can’t believe how happy I am that these guys are already working on new material. Actually, you probably can.

Movie-wise:KILL BILL VOL.2:The first left me with a smile on my face that did’nt leave that whole week & was the best movie of 2003,IMHO.

IMO…Every foo’s album is not as good as the one before…

Foo Fighters : classic album
TCATS : Not as good, but still rocking
TINLTL : A bit mellow, but OK
OBO : One or two good songs and plenty of filler…

And Grohl reckons every album is better…yeah RIGHT

Alan wrote:

I think TCATS was the Foo’s best album. Every song is rocking apart from ‘Walking After You’ which is crap.

The first album has started to sound a bit like dated grunge to me, and TINLTL is actually getting better the more I listen to it.

Obviously, those last two points have highlighted that I’m becoming an old bastard. :p

Don’t worry Alan, I agree with you on the first album and TCATS, that last one is a real classic if you ask me! And I’m not that old, so there’s nothing to worry about mate!

hell alan, start worrying - i’m younger than michael and i agree on tcats (that one is my all-time-favourite-non-therapy?-album), but i don’t agree on the first ff-album; that one doesn’t sound as dated grunge to me, it’s definitely not as good as tcats, but still a true classic!

houston houston - we have a problem out here :)

i think the first one is the best, it sounds more raw than the other 3, TCOTS is almost as good as the first one but a little to polished for me,
the last 2 have their moments, but are definetelly not as good as the foo’s debut
