i especially like that part where they sing about San Francisco and the blue lamp disco or something like that and the guitars in the first part are also fantastic, very sonic youth IMHO

Title: Loose is great!

Loose is a great song. It rocks, and it’s got that irony that only T? can do so well.

I never understood why that song never became a mega-hit. At the very least, it should have became a T? staple… but now it’s been long forgotten.

Totally agree with Shuff. In my ears, Loose is the outstanding track on IL, maybe ‘coz it must’ve been written at Troublegum times for they already played it live on the Troublegum tour.

I like the first 2 minutes of “30 Seconds” especially the “how did we get from the blue lamp disco to cracking up in San Francisco” line - classic Andy Cairns poetry!

But, I don’t like the 3 minutes of repetition that follows it… it just drags a bit.

I think the song with the most potential on Infernal Love was “Me vs You”. If you listen to live recordings of it from the Troublegum tour, it was already a classic. But they changed it slightly / slowed it down for the album, and it just didn’t work as well. It’s still a great song, but could have easily been THE song that people remember Therapy? by.

Loose just seems… I dunno, annoyingly cheesy. I remember my friend having a copy of the single years ago, and never liked the song. Doesn’t fit on the album, either…

me vs you is one of my favourite therapy? tracks - becasue it is so damn haunting and moody. and the lyrics are quite interesting…

what was the original like? the thing with it is it is so different to other therapy? tracks. if the original was more in their traditional style i don’t think i would have liked it as much.

it happens often that the first thing you hear is the favourite - a bit like with blur songs that i heard live first - ‘advert’ and ‘popscence’. to me they sound so much better than on the records. ‘it moved’ by joyrider was another one. still, if i’d heard them on record first it might’ve been different.

Just being reminded of all the cool songs on this album, i must re-purchase it tomorrow. A friend borrowed it because he said he liked Diane so much - he listened to it on headphones repeatedly when he went to bed at night! i’m starting to think he must some kind of serial killer.
I think this would be my second favourite album- wonderful mix of styles and songs, i think 30 seconds would be the most lively of the songs , if that makes sense , it has a lot of punky energy to it.Would Be an excellent moshing song.

still, my fav. IL song is Bad Mother: “it’s a beautiful day, but I don’t see it that way, the sky’s too bright…”

On Loose I specially fancy the part where Andy is singing “…Maybe you’re still lonely, but I love you, you’re my best friend..” The “high-end” on that sentence gives me *shivers*..

When IL was released I listened only that for couple of months. I totally forgot all my other albums and consentrated on IL; it was (still is!) soooo fuckin’ great..

Bad mother, Stories, Loose, A moment of clarity, Jude the obscene, etc.. you name it; they’re all masterpieces.. No weak links on that album!
