Hi all! Yeah Yeah Yeah - love all the ‘deaf’ jokes, but they’ll soon be redundant as I’m now doing much better and will be out on tour without a doubt. I reckon ear protection may take up a fair amount of space in my suit case for a while. I’m yet to plug in a guitar and play at volume number 11 - but I’m more than ready to give it a go.

hi martin, is anything new recorded yet?
or is it just rehearsing - rehearsing - rehearsing that you’re doing right now?

(in case; any new t?-release-plans for the future or so?)

cheers
and all the best!

That’s really excellent news.

good luck, see you real soon.

Be careful with the choice of your ear plugs, Martin, or you might be taken to be the guitarist from Linkin Park. :)

Yes, because even apart from the earmuffs, they’re practically identical, aren’t they? (And have you ever seen them together?)… :D

Okay, starting to scare myself now.. ;)

good to hear you’re better, martin :)

and remember: earplugs are not sissy. if anyone feels the need to take the piss, remind them that in a few years’ time they probably won’t even be able to hear your - possibly not entirely polite - answer :D

Earplugs are NOT sissy. I’m 31 and still enjoying gigs… I’ve never worn earplugs but I now stand well back (I used to stand near the speakers at gigs) and so far, my ears aren’t ringing at night. But I don’t want that to happen either, and may invest in them in the near future.

Martin, if you don’t have them yet, I understand that there’s a make called the Slikplug which costs about a tenner and doesn’t muffle the high frequencies like cheap ones do. A reviewer went to a Raging Speedhorn gig and stood by the speakers. He said the sound was as clear as day and he came out of the venue with hearing intact.

Yeah, people who wear earplug at gigs are cool.

I got the earplug that were made for my ears. They costed about 140ˆ but that is a cheap price to be able to sit in a rocking chair at the age of sixty and listen to the music without the ringing of the ears…
Anyhow, there always seems to be people who think that wearing ear-protection is not cool, but that’s their problem, not the one’s who are wise.

I once saw about a six year old kid with his father at AC/DC concert and he had those big earprotections that are used in factories and that kind of places (Don’t know what is their “name”) and I though that was really ROCK and he was way-beyond being sissy… :p

I played in a band for 3 years - and with playing reasonably small venues and being quite a poor band as not to be able to afford a decent PA - all the guitar and bass came from our amps (350W trace elliot with 2 4x10 cabs) playing every week with that, plus 3 or 4 nights in a practice room stood right next to it at ear blistering volume… I wish i had worn earplugs cause my ears are fucked now!

I wear ear plugs to gigs after I was told if you get the buzzing in your ears longer than 24 hours, you’ve done permanent damage. Anything else and your just just making it worse!!!

Fuck that, I’m planning on doing this shit until I’m 60+

Having spent most of the last-but-one T? almost on top of the speakers, I worried that my ears were knackered, as I was almost deaf that night, and had bad tinnitus for 3 days - a lot longer than usual. Protecting your hearing is like protecting anything else - you’d really regret it afterwards if you got fucked up, so I always keep a pair with me if I think I might end up right by the speakers again.

hell i protect my ears…senses are supposed to be of the most important things in our lives, no?…i’ve got time to be deaf or blind or whatever when i’ll grow old…

plus ears are supposed to be my worktoolz…

for earplugs you can have them done “sur mesure”…and you still ear quite loud in a gig even with them stuffed in your ears…
