We just got done watching the original… I hope the remake is as good. Such a great mix of suspense and comedy :)

Hee hee, amazing this topic came up. I got the trilogy last year and decided to dust it down and watch “Dawn of the Dead” last night! Great film - I love the 70’s feel and low budgetry to the flick. The sureal claustrophobia is what makes it so good.

I really hope the re-make lives up to the original. Remember the disastrous ham-fistedness of the “Night of the Living Dead” re-make from 1990? That was crap.

i liked the notd remake, tom savini is the man. now if you wanna see the worst film ever see Children of the Living Dead. I have the misfortune of owning this piece of crap (only bought it cause savini was in it).

Gonna stick on the dotd directors cut 2nite, best horror ever imo

Title: Creepshow

This is another cracker which George romero directed , it has about five short stories. The best of these has leslie nielson burying his wife and some guy she is cheating on him with on a beach with just their heads sticking out of the sand for the tide to come in and drown them - then they come back to get him! hilarious stuff, you should check it out.

Creepshow 2 is bollocks tho, spent like £14 on a VHS copy 2 years ago. I have a stupid habit of buying terrible movies

Shaun of the Dead is out in early April, there’s posters up for it at the moment. The trailer on the website

Vue (the chain that was Warner Village Cinemas) in Leicester Square is previewing it tonight and tomorrow. I <suspect> that quite a lot of others will be too.

Anyone think Day of the Dead should be remade? I thought that it was the weakest of the 3 originals, although the end was quite good.

Instead of remaking day of the dead, they should make the 4th one Dead Reckoning, that was rumoured a while ago, with romero back in the directors seat.

Ash will be on the soundtrack with their version of “Everybody’s Happy Nowadays” (Buzzcocks) and Charlottes mother even has a short appearance as a zombie.

Saw this last night and here is my spolier-free review

The film takes no time at all to get straight into the carnage and retains the intensity throughout the film. Some interesting twists and plotlines make for good viewing and the zombies are definitely more terrifying and relentless than the original. The film doesn’t waste as much time as the original developing the relationships & backgrounds of the characters and this leaves more time for an onslaught of zombie action. The remake retains a certain amount of subtle comedy like the original and there are even a few cameo appearances in their from some of the original cast to keep an eye out for. I really enjoyed the ending of this film and be sure to stay right through the credits or you’ll miss the conclusion.

The downside was they didn’t use that awesome mall music from the original :D

8.2/10
