Damn, I’m really devestated. This is the worst break-up T? had to deal with since Fyfe left 9 years ago. Sorry to say that I felt a lot worse on that day but still.

He will be greatly missed and certainly the songs he was essential on live and that will be played very rarely from now on.

there you are for a few days not online…and then this happens…

god damn, this news, makes me feel sad, dissapointed and angry in once, cause i simply cannot understand it.

and for me it sounds so too, ass he was kicked out…but why? what’s that for a reason? professionell and not personal ?…do they want to save money for all the flights and hotels, or what?
and to ensure a positive future??? do they think, without martin, T? will become big again???
sorry, but to me it sounds like, “we don’t need him anymore, so let’s throw him out”…and i really hope, that i’m completely wrong with that…

i think for me therapy? will be never that again, what they were with martin as he was a part of therapy?
and for me he was also a very important part!
i mean, who will do the backing vocals now…or jump in when andy’s voice is gone?
we all know, that other members are not really able to sing…
and what’s wrong with having a second guitar or having a cello???

martin, i will miss you a lot.
you are a great musician and cool guy..i hope you will do fine and become happy in the future and that you will find your way…and thanks a lot for all the great shows with you!

It seems to me that while Martin was out with his ear problems, Andy & Michael realised they could still play as a 3 piece.

Also, splitting the profits between 3 instead of 4, and not paying costs (flights/hotels etc) of a fourth person would (maybe, just maybe) be the underlying reason why they would sack Martin.

Sacking him because of musical reasons doesn’t make sense. Martin added a lot to the live sound as well as writing a lot of his own songs and collaborating with Andy. I actually had a feeling that Martin would leave the band of his own accord, but being fired definately seems a bit strange to me.

Best of luck to Mr McC in whatever he does in the future!

Please please please, can someone let us know what REALLY happened? Was it a MONEY issue, a WOMAN issue, a TALENT issue or what?

I think we deserve to know what happened. Come on T? you have always been honest. Don’t just hide behind the “personal” or “professional” reasons excuse …

Today is a sad day … When Fyfe left the future of T? was dim … But somehow they survived. When Martin got in they sounded even better (string wise) and then Neil’s arrival brought the band to a new high level !!! The Fyfe’s era was gone and part forgotten. Martin’s departure isn’t as bad as Fyfe’s one cause I think Neil is a superb drummer and as a trio T? can be very good (as proven also recently at Barfly). But Martin was an extra and was giving that extra to the whole band. Now T? are back to old good T? (nearly as good as a trio with Fyfe) but with the “extra” missing out … :(

Two bad news in two days, who can stand it?

First, T? shows in Turkey delayed, second Martin left!!!

I can’t believe it!!! I prepared everything for T? shows in Turkey, now there’s nothing in my hands :((

By the way, to be honest, Graham’s departure didn’t affect me this much…

There’s obviously more going on here than either Martin or the rest of the band have so far disclosed, and hopefully that’ll change, but it does seem odd given Martin’s recent comments. Maybe it is something to do with his health, maybe the others just really liked playing as a 3-piece again, maybe there’s just no room for a cello in the new material. Which would be a shame as it never sounded forced into T?’s music, it just sounded right.

Martin is a very talented musician, and hopefully we won’t miss him, because hopefully he’ll keep playing in public in some shape or other. I will miss seeing him at T? gigs though.

Whatever you do, good luck in the future Martin, and please don’t be stranger to WoM.

And for that matter, all the best to Andy, Michael and Neil as well. Am sure you all have your reasons for the change.

How did therapy? perform the cello songs? I can’t imagine Die Laughing, Stories, Diane with any cello! besides Therapy? are going to lose the power of the second guitar!!!

Yeah Fabietto you hit to the nerve. The English gigs showed really cleary last year that Andy isn’t that great guitarist and when Martin was around he could consentrate more on vocals. Plus the live sound will be “thinner” without second guitar. And what about those cello-parts..? Are they going to use tapes or what?

Oh, boy I really hope that this wasn’t the wrong decision from Mihael & Andy…

how can you people profess to *know* the reason for martin’s departure? this nonsense of “wanting to split the profits three ways, not four” is spurious, unfounded rubbish. theses guys are mates, I’m sure this decision wasn’t taken lightly.

martin is a talented musician who’s career goes much further back than his involvement with therapy?, he’ll be fine.

it’s my personal opinion that his best contribution to therapy? was made before he became a full time member. his guitar style was never right for the band.

it is also my opinion that therapy?’s golden period was 1990-95. i even enjoyed their live performances as a three piece much more.

the departure of hopkins was a start and hopefully this is the next step on the return to the glory days.

Well, this is a discussion board and we’re having a discussion about what might have happened.

From a musical standpoint, there doesn’t seem to be a genuine reason for sacking Martin. Afterall, his songwriting contribution was more than Michaels, for instance. There’s also the fact his guitar and cello playing will be missed, not to mention his vocal ability.

From a personal point of view, I’ve never known the band members not to get along - they always seemed to be having great fun together. Even last week on this board, Martin was saying how much he was looking ofrward to getting back on tour with the lads.

Therefore, in my opinion only, it seems like it was a “business” decision to sack him. I could be wrong and I probably am wrong, it’s just that I want to read other peoples thoughts on the matter. Because as much as we say otherwise, and like to think otherwise, money is always an issue. And it could possibly be an issue here.

Wow, what a shock. Unless Martin makes a statement I doubt we’ll ever really know the real reason. Good luck Martin!

Im alittle surprised that people think he was sacked, or left because of money so the others could have a bigger share…I could never see that being the reason, I could never see the other three ousting a friend over money matters…Maybe we should wait for one of them to saysomething…
