For anyone who cares.

I’ll be supporting Die Mannschaft as Scotland were booted out.

I can’t decide wishing the best for Germany as being my nationality, supporting England as my favourite country or France just for the love of good football.

Sorry, my puns can only be as good as Christian Ziege’s footballing skills (if you’re not even wanted by Spurs, quit the game).

Rudi was saying last night that Christian is fit and ready.

Never mind the fact he’s about as old as the bloody pyramids.

As long as England don’t win, I’m ok. 1966 my arse.

Seeing as Norway’s not in and Scotland’s not either (gotta give some support to my 2nd home), I’ll go for Denmark.

I can imagine Robby sitting in front of the telly and shouting ‘C’mon ref, send them all off, ref you’re the best.
Ole referee, ole, ole’

I think France will win. They need to compensate for the world cup disaster in 2002 and definitely have the best squad around.

France are the favourites to win.

The main reasons the Dutch team never wins are:
1. If they play bad during ‘rehearsal’ games, the Dutch fans stop supporting their team.
2. If they play outstanding (and I don’t see why they wouldn’t, Ronald!), the players themselves think they’ve already won the cup (like in 1974)

I’m sure they’ll be in the finals, probably against France.

and by the way: Lance is not going to win his sixth Tour de France! I put my money on Iban Mayo.

1974 and 1978 were classic examples of bad luck. I’m actually glad I’m not old enough to have lived in the 70’s, Dutch people nowadays still call it the ‘World Cup trauma’. On the other hand, we’ve had our fair share of shit in the 90’s, being really close to win all the time, but somehow it always goes wrong. Let’s hope it’ll go better this time!

By the way, don’t underestimate the Czechs, they’re a really strong team. In fact, they just might win the group!

Out of the last 5 big tournaments, they lost 4 times on penalties. In fact, I’m not sure they have ever won a match on penalties. But I think that I won’t be able to watch it when it’ll come down to penalties again, I’ll just save myself the pain and torture!

My predictions are that Holland will be knocked out in the quarter finals by Italy, by the way. Like many people, I put my money on France to win the title.

this would actually be impossible, cos they are both in the same group and the tournament is arranged in such a format that the final cannot have already be played. if they did meet for the second time, it would have to be in the semi-final. but it would probably be a good match to watch if it could be a final
