Ashley?

I found a German T? report plus an interview with Andy from November last year.
There it’s said that Andy had a boring factory job in the middle of the 80s (MVD comes to mind) and as a sidejob he did illustrations for children’s books and invented living road sign named Ashley which is the band’s mascot up to date.

Does that mean that Ashley is the blueprint for the gemil or was it just Andy fooling the reporter?
