Ticketmaster

Started by allroy

I’d like to say a big ‘thank you’ to the guys who developed the software for the online booking facilities at ticketmaster.

After the failure of getting tickets for the Pixies show at the Forum on August 20 (there seemed to be too many connections to the server so that my order timed out and wasn’t successful), I’ve come across some post in the Frank Black forum that despite being sold out within minutes you could still get tickets via ticketmaster by just ignoring the denial of your ticket request and posting it again and again.
After about two dozen tries I finally proceeded to the next stage, got my order confirmed and now also have the confirmation mail. Amazing.

To cut a long story short (hmm, seems hardly possible), did any of you ever come across something similar? I’d like to know why this happened, esp. if this might be a software failure (just curious for job reasons ;) ).

same happened to me when I ordered tickets for Robbie Williams (Ok, allroy you can start make fun of me now for RW, but I couldn’t give a simple F* because Robbie rules and the show was ace)last year via go for music.

I tried several times and after a few “there’s a waiting list” messages, I got in and I received my tickets a few days after payment.

So lets hope this works out for you too

You Belgians seems to be paranoid, thinking we Germans (or, at least, me) always want to mock you.
Of course, usually you’re right, but not this time.
I love Robbie, too. I’ve only seen him live once at the Pinkpop festival. I thought about going to his show at the Aren AufSchalke, but firstly I don’t like this vast arenas for a rock show and, secondly, I didn’t want to stand among screaming teenagers (I’ve still got a Take That trauma, but that’s a different story).

Please allroy… talk about that Take That trauma… talking about your problems can help, it’s much better than keeping everything inside :p

Well, it’s not a trauma like me being desperately in love with Robbie (roxy could tell about that, I suppose :p ).
It’s more about losing faith in the intelligence of young women (I know, how could I ever believe in that?).
I won’t go into details. Just one hint.
If a 16-year old girl would ask what to do at Essen central station in the middle of the night and get as a reply to earn some money, how would you interpret that? :o

There’s a big difference between Robbie and Robby my friend… probably a few million dollars if you compare bank accounts :(

And - without wanting to dissapoint you - the lack of millions of women starting to scream when seeing you. ;)

@ allroy
So that was the point when you turned from a nice young guy to a grumpy old man? And even I have no chance to give your faith in female intelligence back? (Say nothing wrong yet, alrite???)

I`m grumpy? I may look like Walter Matthau (don’t confirm that, Robby), but I’m a really good humoured character, though I’ve never been Mr. Nice Guy. I just lost faith that you may love boybands but still have a little bit of a brain between your ears (weren’t a-ha a boyband, too :p ).

Yes, a-ha was a boyband, but I was 14, so I think it’s ok. I moved on a lot since then. ;)

Most of them don’t have a brain anyway so I can live without that :D

Strange. My experience shows that most men seem to be hopelessly attracted to the brainless sort of women. I’m glad there are at least a few thinking different. But on the other hand - Where else but in a Therapy? message board all those intelligent people should be? :D

I was trying to be comical there, sorry. Trying to play the lowest common demoninator to rival the last remark about us all being intelligent sexy people etc etc.

Didn’t work did it? I’ll try harder next time.

It was an excellent remark, motherh. You’ve just qualified to take over the role of the snake. So lead us into temptation (maybe with boobies, oops, I already did that :o ) to get thrown out of paradise.

Thank you very much. Could I have my apple, please, I’m hungry.
