rene, it wasn’t my intent to come off so hostile towards you, and for that i sincerly apoligise…

you did state that tk4two1 should be doing more to promote therapy? though, and since he is in north america like me, i do take it personally when someone suggests that north amercian fans don’t do anything, or they should be in any way responsible… tk4two1 or myself can’t call up local radio stations because the album isn’t over here… we can’t buy the dvd and play it for friends because it won’t play over here… sure, insulting the band won’t get anyone far, but to suggest north american fans should be more productive is wrong, especially when it is impossible for us to do so…

i’d also like to point out that tons of bands tour their asses off over here, playing small club after small club making a name for themselves… sure it can be tough, but this is how you build a fan base… besides 8 shows in 2001, the last time t? were over here is 1997… management aside, there’s no reason for this besides just not wanting to come back…

everyone around here likes to think of therapy? as angels or something, and they are great guys, but let’s be serious… if they really wanted to build their fan base in NA, if they really wanted to promote their new cds in NA, they’d be busting their balls around here playing shows… maybe they’re older now and don’t feel the need too, maybe they’re content with the success they’ve had, and that’s great for them… but it’s not great for the fans of NA and we should suggest otherwise, or lay blame on us…

also, this post is not to try to slam you again, or anyone else for that matter… i respect your opinion and all the work you’ve done for the band… i’m just trying to bring up valid points as to why NA fans have the right to feel the way they feel… we shouldn’t feel ashamed or hide the way we feel just because this is a therapy? board and therefore everything should be pro-therapy?… some may be afraid to speak the unpopular opinion, so i’m doing it for them… again, i apoligise if it comes off hostile, it has never been my intent, i’m just very passionite about the subject and therefore it has a tendency to come out the wrong way…

Gotta sympathize with the man here - not least because when I move to Canada, this kind of shit will affect ME!

I do recall (but can’t find it now) a big deal being made on this site about the Spitfire deal indeed being ‘worldwide’…

Much as I agree that this is a real pain, no record company is going to release product (yes - product ,I’m afraid)in a territory where they feel there’s no (or little) demand. It seems all fans can do is let Spitfire know there is a demand, or buy from Europe or this site…

Having said that, in music more than any other industry, demand is stimulated by a band going out and gigging. Even though the economics may be against them, this is something T? could do. I think they’d be rewarded handsomely in fan loyalty - and the cash sales that would follow.

this brings up a good question though: rené, when you do get to sell the cd on the site, are the profits going directly to the band, or to spitfire? also, any idea as to if it will be cheaper to purchase off this site and shipping to NA compaired to us doing so through amazon.co.uk or something?

I would say buy the album on import, burn as many copies as you can and send them out to as many stations as you can. That would be awesome!Wait…T? wouldn’t make any money and you might have the police at your door as well..hahaha!
We do get screwed over here on situations like this but on the same note others get screwed in other parts of the world as well on releases from NA that don’t have distribution.
I remember when Ejector Seat Reservation from Swervedriver came out it wasn’t released here in the States and they didn’t tour over here, which was a big area for them, and it really hurt them.If that album had been released over here and had some backing I think they would have gotten bigger because they still had steam from Mezcal Head.So instead they get fucked and down the line they get fucked some more by a few more labels and then they called it quits(maybe).
I think if T? came here to promote an album that is not released here and had to use their own money, cause the label isn’t gonna help them,it would be suicide.I e-mailed Micheal several times on why they haven’t toured here in a while and he said that they have not been asked(promoters).Lets all keep our fingers crossed that they can find a label over here that will help them release and promote NANE.

Title: Seriously

Im from ny and im 19 me, my friends, and family have been hardcore therapy? fiends for years, we would drive 400 hours to see them anywhere in the US. I know if they toured the crap out of the US more hardcore they would be huge and get the respect they deserve over here. But then again i guess they dont really need to at this point in their careers unless they want to. And it would also give up “our little secret band”, but dammit they own my soul and i want to see them before i die. Something came between us and getting to their shows on the last tour, which sucked. I hope they come over here someday again. even if i have to pay them to play in my basement. then i could die somewhat happy! As for the us release date, that sucks. I want it to leak at least so i can wait for the us release date to finally come so i can buy it then, but listen now. Fuck labels and the industry, the end.

Well, if you are in NYC, the only places I could think about 400 hours away would have to be Alaska and Hawaii. And for the latter you’d been an special James Bond style submersible car… So, that is dedication! :D

are you serious? it’s a message board, not grammer school… it’s the content that’s important, not how it’s written… eveyrone has their own style when it comes to writing on message boards… i know how to write proper, i’ve been writing for 15 years… i was also the managing editor of a magazine for christ sakes! if you wanna judge me by how i write on a message board instead of what i write on a message board then please don’t bother…

Hmmm, profile says born in ‘76. So you’ve been quite a late starter. :p

On topic: I think this discussion leads nowhere. You have to admit that quite an important part of the music scene is a business. So how and when to release albums, whether to release singles, how much to spend on promotion, it all depends on the profits you’re expecting to make.
It’s sad but true that the American market doesn’t seem to worth exploring.

There are many examples the other way round: Rush are currently touring Germany for the first time in 12 years! Because the American market has been more important for them. Nuff said.

Well in that case, this not being an American message board, could we please have “capitalisation” :-)

Laugh out loud! Good call. I’m going to need an “American” to “English” dictionary, my friend. :)

I do not live in NYC. Its about 6 hours away, but id drive it. If theyve been here sixty times i dont think i would be complaining. The last tour i remember here was a show in like 94 i didnt even know they were playing. I forgot who the headliner was but my brother’s friend was like “yea and some therapy band opened”. He was almost choked.

other side of the country really… about an hour away from toronto…

as for region 2 dvd players, not here… you have to buy a region 0 player, but even then most won’t play PAL dvd’s… i know there are ways to modify your player to play them…

hey, dave from USA here kids..

as for dvd players that’ll play other regions, look into Apex brand players.. they tend to be cheaper dvd players and often have firmware you can find updates for online, or “service modes” that you can open up, that’ll allow playing other regions.

and i know I’ll get castrated for saying this, but at first listen to the first couple tracks, I was a bit disappointed.. though now as I’m going through a proper listen of all the tracks, I’m getting excited about this album.

(though honestly I’ve disliked the first single off of their last few albums, always felt the “deep cuts” had so much more potential. but no biggie!)

Here’s to hoping we get a good way to purchase it in the states, though doubtful.. it’ll feel like I’m buying semi-detached all over again.. aka import and really f’in expensive (if memory serves that ran me about $25 usd plus a few for shipping.. pretty sad when average cd is about $15 usd in the shops)

“it could be worse, I could be you”
