Shameless - whats wrong with it?!?

#

Started by andys gibson sg (James Harris)

OK I’m sorry but I seem to keep seeing, in many threads, people complaining about this album alot.

I think its rock and/or roll tastic! Makes me shake the bootie with a cocktail! :P

I liked it for a long time when it came out, then I got VERY tired of it. Strangely, now that I’ve put all my T? albums onto Windows Media Player, it’s actually the one i most listen to. But to put on a T? album, I just normally pass over it in favour of something else. The magic of Media player…

Jack Endinos production is weird to get used to but it really captured the band at a different angle, some of the songs were challenging (as were those on Infernal Love) though after the album grew on me I couldn’t put it down.

I think it’s a fucking brilliant album and I really don’t care if someone thinks it’s shite. I liked it immidiately. My favorite tracks are Gimme Back My Brain, Dance, This One’s For You and Wicked Man. I would really like to heard Dance played live on the next time I see them… :D

I like it. It’s like the nasty crazy cusin you have. The one that had emotional problems as a child and now is a fucking maniac. Starts a fight every time you’re out and likes to grab girls asses. Has a mean crazy streak to it.

If you know what I mean.

I agree — it’s brilliant. And the songs are so good that when they played (I think it was) 10 of them on the Shameless tour, it was a very strong gig indeed.

Yeah I noticed the slating of Shameless to, was a bit puzzled too but hadn’t got around to asking why.

I personnally think this is a great album. I like just about the hole thing and when I first bought it I couldn’t put it down.

My most fav tracks are:
Gimme Back My Brain
This One’s For You
I Am the Money
Joey
Tango Romeo

I think its a great album - a couple of weak tracks aside.

I honestly think the main reason it tends to get such a pasting on this board is becuase it is the first T? album that wasn’t fueled by teenage angst, anger, drugs, relationships collapsing, grisly serial killer imagery, or just general allround craziness. The band described it as a feel good party record and thats the context in which it should be listened to.

Not T? best album but certainly not their worst.

all those people slating shameless are just scared that the rabbits on the cover might awaken the fluffy pink bunnies they keep hidden away in the dark depths of their evil rock’n’roll muthafucka souls.

I think this was one of therapys best albums, and i saw them at the hackney ocean on the shameless tour and it was probably the best i saw them live, and i feel i have become a bit of a veteran now.
I think that I AM THE MONEY has one of the most addictive riffs ever, as well as some quality drumming from Graham, although not being a drummer, i cant say how credible my claim is there. When Shameless first came out everyone was raving about it, then all of a sudden everyones complaining about it. No wonder Therapy dont get to go anywhere, or get the recognition they deserve, its not the mainstream holding them back, its normally their own fans.

The way i see it, Therapy always have and always will play whatever the fuck they like, never doing albums to satisfy us or record labels, just what they like, which is why i will always love and respect them. I have yet to feel let down by therapy with an album.

That’s the gig I was referring to! It was the best T? gig I have been to.

As someone else wrote, “You can never accuse T? of creating the same album twice”, and that surely is a fantastic strength of theirs. I think the three available songs from NANE go to reinforce that sentiment.

Quite like the album but the problem in my opinion was those songs played live. I think the gigs which were centered around the Shameless songs were the gigs which I’ve least enjoyed over the years! There just seemed to be something lacking for me!

We went the night orange goblin supported.
After that they became my favourite band, for me its either Therapy? or wildhearts, no one else comes close.

I also bought the Japanese version of it, and those two extra songs finish the album, like cream on a cake, if you know what I mean?

Do I make sense?

i think the problem with shameless (and high anxiety too) is that they are not consistent.
some people may not like nurse or spyf but at least these albums have their own distinctive sound, while on the last couple of albums it’s like t? put together a bunch of totally unrelated songs. just compare theme from delorean to joey and body bag girl, or rust to watch you go and nobody here but us. plus there have been some really weak songs on both shameless and high anxiety.
not that they are not good, but compared to the other t? stuff they are somewhat disappointing.

The problem with Shameless to me is a very strong first half, I like the tracks 1-4 very much. What then follows bores me, until Tango Romeo, of which the way Andy sings it makes it somewhat better. Stalk and Slash is not bad either but not as good as the first tracks.

Title: denim demon

the first half of shameless was totally kick ass, but then it kinda got annoying and repetetive.

That is unless you got the japanese import with BIG TIME & DENIM DEMON being the last tracks.

Yes ok, these songs are both covers but Denim Demon is possibly one of the most powerful, adrenaline filled songs that the boys in t? have ever put on a cd. It just bugs me that the couldn’t be arsed to release it in the UK. Not even as a feckin b-side.

arse.

I think the thing is that the album’s a bit… silly. Not that that’s a bad thing, but I don’t know if they did it all that well in places. Sometimes it seems too much, sometimes it’s done very well. It’s just hard to match it up with the other stuff as it doesn’t have that dark edge the others do. It’s a good album, nonetheless, and I love some of the songs. And I prefer it to Nurse, definitely.
