Rock Palast 1993

#

Started by White Psycho

I’ve downloaded a video of a live gig from a bittorrent site, it seems to be for a german radio station. Its pretty good, decent enough quality and its loads of old songs :D Anyone else seen this?

No, you’re perfectly right. It must’ve been May 1993 (I can look up the exact date at home).

It’s been a fantastic week that year with shows by Leatherface, Moving Targets and Superchunk surrounding this one.

Is he well known in the UK? He’s been doing the Rockpalast shows for ages, one of the best radio djs we have here in Germany.

You probably mean Peter Rüchel, so called father of the Rockpalast, an old grey haired hippie.

Concerning Peter Rüchel:

Always had a good laugh, when watching the Rockpalast shows and hear him talking.
And then, during the Bizarre Festival 2002 we were Dixie-toilet neighbours. I just opened the toilet door, my eyes went to the right side, where another door was opened and there he was: The grey-haired legend.

peter rüchel, a man like cornflakes left soaking in milk for a week. also possibly the only tv music presenter who manages to give the impression that he doesn’t actually like music.

ok go to http://azureus.sourceforge.com this is the best bittorrent client. Make sure you have the java applet (http://www.java.com)

If you are behind a firewall then make sure it will allow TCP communications on ports 6881-6999 otherwise it will a) not work or b)shite download rates (if you can’t find anything for this kinda thing then ignore would be my advice).

I have my client setup for broadband, in config (View>Configuration) go to Transfer and set the global max upload speed to 13KB/s and the default max upload slots to 8. Don’t ask me if there is a better setting, I have no idea, its confusing from all the faqs I’ve read.

Anyway once all that is sorted go to a site such as the one I mentioned above (this is where the T? vid is) and find the file you wish to download, click on the link and you will download a torrent file (make sure it goes to My Documents or something rather than Temp Internet Files using Save Target As when you right-click.)

Once the file is downloaded double-click it and azureus will open (if it isn’t already) then the download will start.

A couple of tips - BE PATIENT! It can take a while to get some of these things so be prepared to leave your computer on for a long time!

After downloading leave the program going and don’t move the file(s) you have downloaded, this helps the torrent upload to others (filesharing; geddit?)

If you want more sites email me, I’m not gonna post all these things here, I only posted the previous one because it is for the T? vid.

I know it is confusing to setup, (I know I was bloody confused!!) but it is a much more efficient way to get things than kazaa etc.

Any probs just ask!
