Worst cover version

‘Inspired’ by the recent mutilations of Personal Jesus by Marilyn Manson and Celebrate Youth by H-Blockx, I’d like to know who you think should rot in hell for killing a good tune.
And no answers like Groove Coverage or other euro trash dance projects ‘coz this is too obvious. Name bands that you might like (like manson)
At the moment I hate Eskobar’s Dreams Are my Reality (yep, that schmoozer from La Boum). One of my all time lows is Papa Roach’s version of Gouge Away and Bowie’s go at Cactus, both original Pixies songs.

Any song which has been punk/ska’d up but was not originally a punk/ska song. The Hippos version of So Lonely by the Police was a disgrace..

…But I have to admit Less Than Jake’s versions of Slayer’s ‘Evil Has No Boundries’ and ‘Anti-Christ’ were actually pretty interesting.

And every American high school garage band circa 1990-1993 which covered For Whom the Bells Toll and couldn’t even attempt the short lead riffs…ruined more than one party for me. Every weekend there’d be a different band at a different place destroying what is actually a pretty simple song…AAGGHH!

You’ve just reminded me, that cover of chop suey by system of a down she did at a gig, the link is somewhere on here. Absolutely dire!

I am willing to bet hard cash that their version was better than the original, not that I support anyone who thinks making royalty payments to The Smiths is a good idea. :p
