American Curiosity

If Never Apologise Never Explain gets an american release, does that mean they’ll have to change the spelling to Apologize.

Maybe thats why the record companies wont release it there, not american enough.

Thats a good point, hadn’t thought of that. But maybe that further implies that no matter how retarted british record companies are, america are just a tad more retarted.
Im not anti-american people, but im anti american busineses and stuff, especially record companies and film studios. Dont get me started on the average american version of british events, leading actor played by americans, americans did it, not the british, the usual U.S bullshit.

Plus why do americans think that british people all have bad teeth? ant movie execs who happen to be a member of the therapy message board(chances are soooo high), please explain yourselves.

Um, can’t explain the business side of things, but I do agree that there are quite a few amazingly stupid decisions made by a lot of U.S. companies and productions (Britney Spears, etc.). I could go into more detail, but manifestos aren’t my bag.

As for the bad teeth stuff, I think it’s quite possibly an old sterotype that had some legs and people just ran with it and won’t stop. The British people I met in college all had nice teeth, so I think it’s more of an old joke that still gets laughs from people, so it keeps getting told.

Title: whee

This thread’s negative responses are a bit silly, and do ring of the whole “brits all have bad teeth” thing.. spiteful and stereotypical.. ;)

As for changing the name, it’s doubtful. As mentioned, the Foos album “Colour and the Shape” was released w/ that title.. they took it the same in the states as over there.

And for the gent who said the bit about stupid moves of American labels.. don’t get me wrong, I’m not a big fan of any labels, no matter what country, but come now.. using Britney Spears as an example of American business stupidity?

2 words for you my friend.. “The Streets”.

I’m in no way going to say that the US companies don’t do stupid things. Especially the record companies.. But I have to place the finger of blame entirely at the Brits…

You guys have more than paid us back for the Revolution by unleashing two of the most insideous, horrible and sneaky weapons of mass annoyance ever to darken the Earth…

Spice Girls and American Idol (brought to us by Brit Simon Powell)

Nothing has done more damage to the fiber of American life then these.

But it’s backfired on you. Ha!Ha! You give us the Spice Girls and we send back a bunch of even worse Pop wannabee’s

That’s what you get!

And Yes! This tirade is completely brought on by the fact that I’m bitter that I have to import NANE!!

Hallelulya!!! Holy Shit!!! Where’s the Tylanol!

We may have invented crap-pop (debatable), but we had the problem under control in the mid-90 we had kicked the new kids to the curb and all was good until you guys decided to piss on our parade and send the spice girls over…EVIL!
Should have left well enough alone.

But we did give you Punk! via the Ramones. Give us credit for a good idea once in a while. Euro-(or anything for that matter) Disney is another story.

You have a point with the so-called “Reality” shows, thank god for DVDs. The only possible good outcome is the next generation of kids may be the most literate since there isn’t shit on TV! But just as much of that crap started in the UK so we can’t sholder the whole blame.

At one time I could have thrown up Star Wars in your face…but then Lucas had to go and make the latest movies which has pretty much wrecked it…

I’m depresing myself..right now The Matrix is on..another good example of something great until they made a sequal(s).

Ugh! I need a beer

you couldn’t throw star wars in our face, as most of it was made in england, and most of the cast minus the main cast were english.

I hate american sit-coms. Ive always felt that england does the best sit-coms, and america does the best cartoons, such as family guy, simpsons, futurama, king of the hill, beavis and butthead…theres probably a lot more i cant quite think of at the moment.

Problem with american tv, as it appears to a brit who has only been there once on holiday, is that someones comes up with a hit, and everyone follows suit, and you just get the same old plot over and over.

How many american comedys have we seen where you have that episode where someones favourite pet dies, normally the BOSS, and the person tries to get one that looks EXACTLY the same, but they confess in the end even though they could have got away with it, OR, theres a really bad give away, luck the wrong gender.

Debateable whether you gave us punk. Stuff like sex pistols were pretty different to what the Ramones were like, although saying that I think the Ramones were good, sex pistols shite, but the clash were pure class!

Besides this Sum 41 and Blink 182 punk-shite, you’re responsible for :p This’ll never end will it? Basically we all have a lot to answer for but never really will (its like a family argument about “What our janine said about our karen at unlce franks silver wedding anniversary”
