It _was_ Francis Bacon.
(and, in a belated reply, Sir Francis Bacon _was_ a philsopher, but he didn’t say the line. ;))

Title: well well well…

So did a bit of research on the old net here and…
Appararently the “Champagne ” quote is from Francis Bacon the painter” So I wasn’t too far off the mark earlier) and the film made about his life was called…
“Love is the devil” Does that ring any bells, I think so

“Champagne for my real friends (Champagne for my real friends)
Real pain for my sham friends (Real pain for my sham friends)

‘Cos I live in darkness
And I see no reason
And love is the devil
Wherever you go
And I don’t want to know
I live in darkness
I see no reason lately
I live in darkness
Whatever you do
This one’s for you ”

So not only will it be a classic T? line but a line from one of other fav influences…:D

Is there really a difference between cheap champagne and half decent cava? Am I just being a tightwad here?

Depends how much of a snob you are. Technically no, but officially to qualify as a champagne the beverage has to actually be from the Champagne region of France.

I’m aware of that, but I’m also aware that that puts a minimum of £10 extra on a bottle. :(

I prefer a good quality Cava; more quality for a better price.

Yes, but you can just produce a bottle of non-champagne and call it champagne. So long as the cork pops, no one will care.

Oh, and there’s a Hardy’s bottle for about 7 quid in most supermarkets that is arguably nicer than many of the champagnes at three times the price.. check it out.

Also, Majestic are selling a NZ fizzy called Yellowglen which I am told is very nice, though I haven’t opened my bottle yet. I think it was about 9 quid.

well here you go, got it done last night about 12.30am, so it’s still very tender, and red.
He was gonna use one needle, but that went blunt, so used a three, which for anyone with a tattoo will know, the less needles, the greater the pain…ouch.

This line is also mentioned in the movie “25th Hour”, which stars Edward Norton. I wonder if Andy is a fan of his work, seeing as though he enjoyed “Fight Club” - another class flick! :D

Your tattoos look great! That “Champagne” is made nicely, really nice font. I first thought that you must be out of your mind to have text tattooed on your skin but after seeing that have to say that it almost looks like a tribal tattoo and not text at all.

Thanks very much.A couple of my friends were a bit scepticle, and I had to take it to 3 tatt artists before any agreed to do it.In the end I went back to the guy that did the infernal love heart a year ago. It stills hurts

For a while now I’ve been intending to get a very similar tattoo, but cos it’s writing I’ve been waiting to get back to Dublin where the tat artists speak english (I’m in Spain) so I could explain exactly what I want. Looks good though ;)
