“Jazz” Fags

Following on from the “Cigarettes” thread, what’s everyone’s view on Weed?

Personally, I know a few people who swear by the stuff and who are never happier than when they have that glazed grin on their face and a rumble in the stomach (MUNCHEEEEEEZ!!!)

…but, damnit, it just doesn’t do it for me. Maybe it’s cos I’m not a cigarette smoker, so the smoking part of it still makes me wanna hurl, but…the woozy feeling, the racing heartbeat..Nah, I just don’t like the feeling.

Please understand, I am not judgmental about this at all - I used to work in a pub and I would WAAAAY prefer a room of stoned rock fans to a room of pissed up peopl, ANY day. I think if something relaxes you and it doesn’t harm anyone else, why not? I just don’t get that from weed myself..

Is it overrated, am I doing it wrong or am I just a lightweight?! :(

So, weed, good fun or waste of time?

Some bloke was skinning up in front of me on the train yesterday, and whatever it was, it smelt v strong. However, he was a good bloke and obeyed the no smoking sign until he got off the train.

Have never tried it, except for passively, and never noticed any real effect from that. I think the law needs a proper overhaul on it (your point comparing it with alcohol is a good one), but I’ve never really seen the need to try it.

Fair play - each to their own, I say. I never quite understood why some people have this attitude of “try anything once”. Some things just don’t appeal, why pretend they do?

I’m completly against it. i don’t understand it. But I have to say I had some bad experiences with people using it, so I might be a bit harsh in my judgement.

There’s some famous saying along the lines of you should try everything once except incest, buggery and golf. I think I’d have a slightly longer list…

My dad surprised me the other day, after 31 years of drugs’r’bad conversations, by telling me that ‘there’s nothing wrong with cocaine, Sherlock Holmes used to take it’. Old folk these days are really getting out of control.

..surely he meant Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Sherlock Homes’ creator?! I’m sure he’s right in saying that drugs never did any harm at all…to fictitious people :D!!
I’m with you on the golf front, by the way. “A good walk spoit” didn’t someone once say…?

I live in Amsterdam, but only partake when friends are smoking it, don’t really go out and do it by myself or at home. Some of the chocolates you can buy can be fairly potent though.

you don’t have to cut it with tobacco, you can cut it with something like rosemary so its a lot less harsh (according to my girlfriend’s dad). Only been stoned twice and that was on consecutive days 3 years ago

If you cut it with something its also a lot less hash :)

I think it should be given out free to people with crippling illness and pain, and to football supporters in Birmingham before the Blues-Villa derby.

Tried it - can be quite enjoyable in the right situation ie. with the lights down, tv on mute and a few classic tunes on low. But can understand the appeal to those who smoke it like cigarettes. But then I can’t understand Russian either - doesn’t make it wrong. Mmmm…

Well I only really have a spliff on special occasions now though - not a consious effort to cut back. Dont really smoke on my own anymore and its way more fun if there are a few of you… I only ever smoke good stuff, a nice bit of green - none of this brown rock shit!

Each to their own I guess - I only smoke it with friends and dont smoke it around people who dont like it or in public. I’ve never encouraged anyone to try it either…

If it had no effect on you though - you probably didnt really smoke it properly.

And leave golf alone - its ace!

Tends to make me puke but got nowt against it really. My grandad has multiple sclerosis and I think that it should certainly be made available for medicinal purposes in situations like that.

I wouldn’t be surprised that making it properly legal (decriminalised isn’t the same thing) & easily available would mean less expensive drugs sold by powerful drugs companies who are much better at lobbying governments than a bunch of stoners. Sad but possibly true… That’s why I try to avoid any substance that might make me more sceptical.

:D Good idea, except for the fact that you’d have to be on some pretty strong drugs in the first place to big a blue-nose. Up the Villa!

Quite happily smoked for almost ten years on and off enjoyed myself while doing it and it didn’t interfere with my life and i still was very active. My view on it now is take it or leave it myabe i’ve grown out of it and bored of it. But i wont ever say never again coz that would be a lie i’ve just got better things to spend money on.
It’s not something for everyone my brother only has to be in the same room as someone smoking it and he gets a Panic attack.
