Theo van Gogh was shot…

#

Started by Flo

Theo van Gogh was a Dutch film maker who was also very direct (sometimes very rude) about basically everything, also about Muslims and their beliefs.

He was stabbed and shot to death on Tuesday by a Muslim man who thought that Theo had to shut up about the Islam.

Theo was rude about muslims but he didn’t deserve to die, everybody is entitled to have their opinion, that is democracy…

It is so wrong to kill somebody just because you don’t like his/her opinion. You can argue or shout at each other but you can never kill someone…

Theo van Gogh was not a rascist or something, Actually I didn’t even like him that much but he liked to shock people.

You just show what democracy is about, to stand up for someone regardless of your feelings towards him, just becaus he deserves it for the benefits of free speech.
Respect.

a fundamentalist will think the murderer did a great job. But I hope there are more moderate muslims out there.

This killer was an extremist, with probably no idea at all what the Koran says about killing people. If he had been a real Muslim he wouldn’t have killed Theo van Gogh during the Ramadam.

I really hope that this brutal murder on an artist will open the eyes of many people. We must never tolerate that anyone gets killed because of what he stands for, no matter what their ideas are.

Like Flo I often disagreed with van Gogh’s ideas, but I will always defend the right of free speach. More now than ever!

What I just realised; the three books that caused most dead people, oppression, torture, poverty, persecution and misery are the torah, the bible and the koran.

Still, I’m against book burning.

Religion itself is harmless, untill you start using it in an irrational way by saying that your religion is the only true one and if you don’t believe it either you should be destroyed.

There is enough religion in the world to make men hate each other, but not enough to make them love each other.

<embarrassed> Actually, it was the devil that said that, in Angelheart, um…

That’s the one. Read an interview with T? once where the writer said that she thought Michael looked like he looked through Mickey Rouke’s eyes in Angelheart - have no idea what she was on about then, as hadn’t seen the film at that time, and still don’t, although did quite like it when I finally did see it.
