German Bands

#

Started by gb199

Hi all,

I’m currently learning German and I would like to have a few German albums as by singing along I can get remember words/meanings a lot better.

Can some of my German/Austrian cousins recommend a couple of good albums I can get. Preferrably a band like Therapy?/Wildhearts but indie/metal albums would be good as well.

Vielen Dank (see I’m getting there :p )

Either this thread is a reflection of the fantastic contribution of German musicians to the world of music, or the incredible musical taste of the Dutch folks on this board :p .

You do enjoy this stuff you recommend here for real, don`t ya? :D

I’d recommend bands like Muff Potter, Boxhamsters or Angelika Express.
If you really want to have intelligent lyrics to learn German, listen to Blumfeld (though musically probably not your cup of tea).

And don’t believe any Dutch posting in this thread. :D

I forgot about die ärzte, I could only think of Rammstein. I’ve heard of Mordern Talking as well but dont they sing in English?

Böser Wutzi.
What should a foreigner make of songs like Blumenkohl am Pillemann?

Excellent idea. :D

i just call them “Modern Torkeln” :p

and yes, even if the “music” weren’t crap, they wouldn’t be much help if you want to learn german cos it’s all in english.

If you want music that is even worse than Die Kassierer listen to Taktlo$$, Germanys worst mc featured by some of the worst producers, dj’s and mc’s.

Everything by Einstürzende Neubauten, best start with “Haus der Lüge”
Also very good: The Inchtabokatables, they sing both English and German, start with “Inchtomanie” or “Ultra” (produced by NMA’s Justin Sullivan)

Best wishes,

Lupus from Kiel, Deutschland :D

@lupus

But what should one who learns German make of songs like Tomatenfisch and Paris? ;)

Ferris MC??? You must be kidding, man!

If you’re looking for good lyrics in German Hip Hop, you better listen to Curse, Spax, Texta (AUT) or Freundeskreis.

But Hip Hop is crap anyway…

You forgot Dendemann from Eins Zwo (now going solo). He’s probably the best MC in Germany in my opinion.
