#

Started by romy

…or should i rather say, american music awards held in europe?

incredible how they can ignore SO much european talent, and get away with it, eh?

mtv used to be SO cool when it still played music from everywhere…

discuss.

Yeah - they used to have MTV Europe and they had EUROPEAN hosts - and I remember them playing bands like Guanno Apes, Die Toten Hosen and H-Bloxx…

Now its Brittney Fucking Spears and Busted - by the way - the twat with the eyebrow in Busted was wearing a Tool t shirt in the band aid video… what a bell-end, I bet the mono-browed gimp couldn’t name two Tool songs!

nope, they only show the best act from the region you’re in, sorry :( another ‘good’ consequence from splitting mtv europe.

i must say, splitting it didn’t do much for music in central europe really.it may have for some german bands (well, not really, cos some artists that are played there have been around long before it started),but what about austria and switzerland, for chrissake?!it’s not called mtv germany, it’s mtv central!!

I guess that’s Charlie. He really has a decent taste in music, e.g. Aereogramme.
:o I never thought I’d defend Busted. It’s a hard fate being a ‘gramme fan. :o

switzerland is not part of the EC, so that might be a reason. there’s VIVA Swizz available here, but as i don’t have a TV… and austria? well, i guess after Falco’s death, there’s not much coming from the alps… am i wrong, tatty??

norway ain’t in the EU either and is still included in mtv nordic,so i think that’s no criteria!

and there are quite some good bands here in austria, they just don’t get hardly any exposure on the major channels (except for naked lunch being played on viva fast forward a few times)

I saw a short feature on the tv about the new version, and tehre were a few snippets of interviews and things. Busted were… comical.

As far as I could tell all this said without a trace of humour:
‘well, we don’t really know much about all this, but we were reading the leaflet they gave us in the car-ride over here, and apparently this is something really important and we need to raise awareness about the plight of…”’ <apparently starts to quote verbatim from leaflet>

They didn’t know who Bob Geldoff was either, apparently.
